Popped up in my feed as a high rated place on Skip so decided to give this place a try for yesterday’s dinner. I went with plain basmati rice, daal tarka, chicken katakat and one chicken shami paratha roll with egg. The delivery was quick and I will concede that the joint is pretty decently priced. Anyway getting to the food, it was not at all what i expected. It looked so good (not the daal) and smelled so nice but tasted absolutely horrible. The basmati rice was supposed to be a plain rice but still had cumin in it. I was surprised to find pepper in it instead of cardamom. The daal tarka looked so sad and dry with a consistency of Danone greek yogurt instead of the steaming and soupy consistency one expected. I had to add warm water to it separately to make it a “lentil soup” before putting on the rice. Next the chicken katakat, I have just no idea what was going on with that dish. Absolutely no harmony in the taste and aroma due to undercooked and missing spices. There was absolutely no balance to the taste at all. All it tasted was kind of sour and bitter and hot. Thats not how it’s supposed to taste. It made me realise that the chicken katakat at BarBQ Tonite is much much better and worth in value. Coming to the roll, well it was interesting. The paratha was nice and thin, the shami kebab delicate and crumbling and too fine, the egg in the hardly discernible but when it came to taste it just didnt hit the spot. Again, no balance at all in the roll with weird combination of spices and spices and an overall taste of sour. Not to mention all the dishes felt incredibly bland. The shami kebab in the roll sure was. I usually do not require salt to be added separately to my food but yesterday all the items needed additional salt. All in all a very disappointing experience for a place that’s rated 10 on Skip the Dishes. I would have given a rating of 2 but I have settled for 3 as the order was pretty economical for me and i managed to somewhat like the shami kebab roll thanks to its paratha. They should definitely have that paratha in their Bread option. Can’t say that I will be trying this place...
Read more7/10 overall rating - ordered the halva puri combo for breakfast with 1 order each of beef kebab and chicken kebab and nihari (regular size). The halva puri combo was a 8/10. The puri’s are a good size and not tiny at all. Halva & potato curry was done properly. The chick peas (channa) was loaded with a bit too much blend of spices (masala) personally not a fan but it was fine. The nihari was 9/10 - the thing was, there were only 3 pieces of beef which was not enough for how much nihari (the liquid portion of the curry) was provided. One thing I highly would NOT recommend are BOTH of the Beef & Chicken Seekh kebabs. STAY CLEAR from this unless you enjoy chewing on spicy rubber. Didn’t even taste like I was eating meat. The extreme level of spiciness didn’t make this experience remotely enjoyable at all. I understand it’s a Pakistani restaurant and spice is a staple… but this was just overdoing it. Had to throw a full beef and chicken seekh kebab skewer out. Shame really. Other than the terrible kebab experience, I’d give this breakfast a 3.5/5. Would i recommend this place? Yes. Would I be coming back? Yeah, probably in another...
Read moreI always order their chicken biryani through Uber Eats. However I was in the area today and decided to drop into the store to pick up my usual order. Once I finished paying I turned to go sit on one of the stools and wait for my order. To my shock there was a DEAD BIRD on the floor in the corner of the waiting area. At the same time (less than 4 minutes) my food came out and I immediately informed the hostess. She said she was going to call someone to get rid of it but seeing a dead animal on the floor completely disgusted me. The biryani was slightly warm. I live less than 5 minutes away and had to heat it up when I got home - disappointing since ordering takeout you expect your food to be hot and ready. When I opened the box you can see that this was clearly leftover food that they heat up and serve with the way the rice was clumped together. Also, only 2 pieces of chicken in a large and 1 piece in a small - very small amount of meat compared to other biryani places. Overall good flavour but after this experience I will not...
