We decided to try Turkish cuisine for the first time and unfortunately we arrived at the restaurant during iftar buffet. We did call before heading over and were told there is place for us but they did not share that there an iftar buffet taking place. The place was super crowded and chaotic - the set up (I’m assuming for iftar) was communal which is not what we had in mind. We asked to be seated in the booths for privacy and were told that we can sit in the communal seating for now and as soon as a booth is free we will be moved. Also we arrived at 8.30pm and were told that ordering ala carte would not open until 9pm which was something we were not informed of when we called - I guess they assumed we were heading over for their Iftar buffet (which we were not). The waiter came to us around 8.55pm and took our order after which I went to use the washroom during which a booth became available. Upon my return we wanted to move but turns out that the waiter gave our booth away to other customers. This was a bit upsetting but we tried to be understanding since it was pretty chaotic and we made another request. They told us a another booth is getting cleaned for us and as soon as we got up to go sit there another set of customers came and sat there. At this point I was ready to leave because this is not done! Anyway they finally got us a booth and gave us our food and the bread was cold but the mix grill was exceptional. They did offer us 1 free Turkish ice cream which was delicious and took 50% off the cacik to make up for our troubles. They did try to make it up to us which is appreciated but I highly doubt we will be heading back especially during Ramadan.

Food Quality: ⭐⭐⭐ ⭐ Price/Value: ⭐⭐⭐ Atmosphere: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A nice spot for some Turkish food with an vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. Plenty of seats that don't require a reservation to be made in advance. Service was great with friendly staff who greet you with a smile as soon as you enter. Water for some odd reason is not free which I was not happy about however our kind waitress Pushpita offered to waive the water charge. Their menu is vast with numerous options to choose from to which we chose the following: Beef Doner Dinner - $20 Mix Doner Dinner (Chicken & Beef) - $20 I found the doner here to be average at best, although the portion is generous, it was not as flavourful as I was expecting it to be and quite pricy compared to other restaurants. However it's great that it comes with crispy fries, salad, airy naan, and bulgur (bulgur is quite bland though which was also a bit disappointing). Personally I'd recommend Champion Doner over this place. Additionally what rubbed me the wrong way was how our waitress offered complimentary food or sweets in exchange for a high rating with praise for her service at the end of our meal. This practice can lead to inflated review scores and doesn't reflect the true dining experience. Anyway washrooms very clean and of a decent size which is great but overall I wouldn't be coming back based on the average food experience, surprising water policy, and the unsettling review incentive. It's possible other menu items are more impressive, but those mentioned above fell short of expectations.

I came here because of all the positive google reviews but left underwhelmed. We went on a Wednesday evening when it was not particularly busy. During the ordering process, our Server informed us we can't have tap water and that we'd have to order a beverage. Personally I find it a bit annoying that Sultan Ahmet is trying to strongarm me into buying a bottle of water for $1.50, that they paid $0.12 for. (the server never disclosed any of the bottled water proceeds would go to charity as indicated in other reviews or that there was any other free water option). But I went along and bought a beverage, your restaurant, your rules. We ordered the doner plate and chicken kebob plate. First thing we noticed were the french fries. On each plate, the fries were a single fused mass, all of them were stuck together into a blob the size of my fist (see attached pics), they were so stuck together that separating them caused the fries to rip. Also, the temperature of the fries was extremely low. The fries were cold 3 minutes after my plates arrived. I'm not sure how fries so obviously screwed up could make it to a customer other than to assume whoever assembled my plates didn't care. In fact, the temperature of all the food on my plates was on the low side as if they had been sitting around awhile before being served to me. I could have asked for replacement food, but my order took over 25+ minutes to arrive (while people around me who ordered after us, received their food first), but frankly the whole experience was getting dragged out, and I didn't have the time. I appreciated the warm service (even if it was slow), that the owner visited our table and the tea at the end of the meal, but frankly, the food simple did not measure up. Update: Based on the owner's feedback below I did reach out to them and the restaurant manager called me. After speaking to him, I discovered that in fact, they don't give you a "generous gift card" as indicated below. You have to go in and order a mean and they'll and give you a discount at the end. They wouldn't tell me what the discount was. Maybe I'm splitting hairs but a gift card is different than a discount. I can't be bothered to take them up on their mystery offer. And I took off one extra star for wasting more of my time.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at Sultan Ahmet Restaurant, and I must say it was an absolute nightmare. The level of incompetence and disregard for customer satisfaction displayed by the staff was truly appalling. Upon ordering and being seated in the restaurant with my family, we requested a booster seat for our child who was seated on a high chair in the booth. However, the receptionist/staff who was seated behind the desk, seemingly preoccupied with her phone, informed us that they did not have any boosters available. How can a supposedly family-friendly restaurant not provide such a basic necessity? As if that wasn't bad enough, when we asked to change our table due to discomfort so that we could have a high chair for our child, we were met with an absurd response. She blatantly stated that the tables were unchangeable, despite the fact that there were only three occupied tables out of the 25 available at that time. It is unfathomable that a restaurant would prioritize rigid furniture arrangements over the comfort and satisfaction of their customers. To add insult to injury, when we attempted to address our concerns and asked to speak to the manager, she boldly claimed, "I am the manager!" She accused us of being rude and even denied that we had spoken to her before. This level of disrespect and gaslighting from the manager is simply unacceptable. I strongly advise everyone to steer clear of Sultan Ahmet Restaurant. Their complete lack of consideration for families, inflexible seating policies, and unprofessional behavior from the manager make it clear that they have no regard for customer satisfaction. Save yourself the frustration and choose a different dining option in the area. Additionally, I would like to mention the misleading advertising they have for their fresh juice on the menu. The actual product is significantly smaller than what is depicted. Paying $8 plus tax for a small drink with a few ice cubes is extremely disappointing and misleading.

When you enter the restaurant, the register is right to your left which can cause problems if people are trying to find a table (without having booked) or trying to order take-out. This means that even if you’ve already made a reservation you will have to wait and also accommodate others who are entering from the door that is just behind you. We were given an adequate time to order which was nice. And after ordering, the drinks and appetizers arrived very quickly which was a pleasant surprise. And the appetizers were actually the stars of the show—honestly, we could’ve just had the appetizers as the main course. The quantity was enough for two (we had the 4 appetizer mix along with two pieces of hot, perfect bread) and some calamari which wasn’t exactly the best but it was okay. The piña colada was too sweet and watery—probably not fresh—and the freshly squeezed pomegranate juice was fresh but was too little in quantity and had the pulp which made drinking it with the straw a bit difficult. The main course took a little longer to arrive and when it did, it was lukewarm which makes eating lamp chops not a good experience. It would’ve been nice to be able to choose between rice or bulgur when ordering. The portions were big enough that we had to take out the remaining with us, and each of the dishes had french fries with them and salad and pickles. Now, here comes the actual issue: the restaurant is understaffed in terms of waiters and we suspect that was why the food was lukewarm. Because once we had finished and were ready to leave and ask for take-out containers, our waiter had to take the orders of two other tables, get the bill for another two; the person who was behind the register noticed that we were about to leave and she had to go and tell our waiter, and we waited for so long that we decided against having dessert.

If I were you, I would be weary of the reviews on here as it is not at all indicative of the service, atmosphere and food, all of which were pretty mediocre and overpriced for what it is. For what the rating is on Google, the number of reviews and what we experienced something isn't sitting right. (Paid reviews perhaps?) Every recent reviewer seems to be served by pushpita. First red flag is that they don't serve tap water and really want you to order drinks. (The owner has replied to other reviews indicating they donate to an organization, this should be at the expense of the owner, not at the expense of free drinkable tap water that customers have the right to.) While they give you a complimentary small bite sized 'dessert' and floral tea, it honestly doesn't make up for the fact that you have to purchase water. As we walked in, we we pleasantly greeted by staff and flies. Food is expensive and incredible mediocre. Got the dolmas, and a combination plate along with a pide which was fresh. However the meat was cold, fries were frozen and not warranted of 5 star reviews. The last kicker was that in the middle of the meal a worm or bug fell on me and was still alive and squirming (see photos). We told the waitress after the bill came just to see what would be done. And nothing which was fine but also indicative that this is not a 4 or 5 star establishment. With all the options in the area, I would firmly say skip this one, and drive down the road to a better middle eastern/turkish/Mediterranean option. Would not come back, would not recommend!
