Update on July 24: I was never going to step foot into this place again after my initial visit, but the manager(?) responded on Google Reviews and invited me to try another falafel sandwich on the house. It's been a month since I went, and since I was passing by the area I figured why not. When I entered the restaurant (Tues ~5pm), I was the only customer except for two high school students whom had already finished their meals. I showed the message I'd received about the free sandwich to the girl at cash (same girl as last time...) and she called for her manager. He came out and immediately recognized his message, and began to explain that their sandwiches are normally comprised of "6 basic toppings": cucumber, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, and pickled radish, and any other ones are provided only on request. I appreciated that he was educating the customer, but I told him that I did not even receive those 6 toppings last time, nor were any other toppings offered to me when my sandwich was being made. He didn't respond to that, but honoured the offer for the free sandwich...what took me by surprise was when he leaned in and quietly said, "So, your review..." to which he let me fill in the blanks. I firmly told him I would not give 5 stars just because I'm being bribed with a sandwich, but that I would edit my review based on this experience today. He personally made my sandwich and seeing as I was the only customer, it was done in a fraction of the time as required during my initial visit. The portions are generous, yes: it was probably the largest falafel shawarma I've ever eaten, though I don't know if this was only because the manager knew I would be editing my review. However, I only upped the review from 1 star to 3 because though the quantity is there, the quality is not. The toppings were definitely abundant this time around (so much that it ripped the pita) but the falafels themselves are extremely dense and dry on the inside. The pita also had an odd texture and plastic taste to it, but this is probably more a supplier issue. Based on other reviewers' comments, it seems this restaurant is more famous for their meat dishes. As for would I return? Probably not, since I was hoping this could be a go-to place for a quick-bite vegetarian meal, but I do appreciate the good customer service on the manager's part for trying to rectify my initial experience.
June 2018: First and last visit. Very disappointed in not just their lack of professionalism (teenagers just talking to each other as the lineup grows, though I'm not sure why there's a lineup here after this experience...), but their sorry excuse for a "sandwich." Ordered the falafel sandwich and girl asked me if I wanted all toppings, to which I replied yes. Took almost 15 minutes to get my order, during which time the chef was outside the restaurant talking on the phone, while 5 people after me ordered, got their food, and left before mine was even visible from over the counter. Man who prepared my sandwich provided what appeared to be the most stingy amount of vegetables to my wrap then proceeded to grill it. I clarified that he filled my sandwich with the toppings and he said yes. When I got my order, it appeared burned (don't think they clean the grill in between orders), and I dissected the sandwich in suspicion of the lack of toppings. Sure enough, it was a measly toss of lettuce and tomatoes, and a single pickled turnip. When I brought my order up to the man who prepared my sandwich to ask where the other toppings were, he said I needed to tell the girl when I ordered (but we did clarify that I wanted all the toppings!. He offered the toppings on the side and only provided parsley and black olives (what about the green olives? The cucumbers? The pickles? And everything else your menu clearly states is in each sandwich???). Terrible service, worst "sandwich" I've ever had, and certainly regret...
Read moreWish I could rate this lower than 1star. Not the fault of the person I spoke to in person but still quite an aggrevating experience.
Yesterday I called ahead to ask if they had spicy rice (which I was told on a separate day that it's something they should have all day and I still have yet to try it) and was told on the phone not to bother worrying about it or ordering for pickup as there would be enough for a while. I even made sure on the phone if I should order it right then and there for pickup only to be told not to.
So not even 25 min later I arrived at the location only to be told that they don't have spicy rice and after I inquired why I was told something different on the phone, I did not get a single explanation as to why nor did I get the chance to speak with the guy who told me not to order for pick up on the phone. Food is definitely great, but customer service is really atrocious.
I work in customer service, if I promise a customer something or I find a customer as disappointed as I was in this situation, the least I would do is offer some sort of compensation or something to show that I'm valued as a customer or I'd go make the rice that should be there all day myaelf. Instead I was offered normal rice instead, thanks taza. Not like I called ahead of time and then wasted a 15-20min trip down to avoid this scenario. Never coming to this location again. I'll make the extra trip to the Oakville next time. Unbelievable. It's not just the spicy rice but moreso the principle which is leading me to write this review. Hope this place gets their...
Read moreOne star Every single time they mess my order up. This is the 5th chance they got 5TH I specifically told them the garbage quality I got and how dissapointed I was.
Well look at the pic bellow to see how much they care First time beef was dry Second time they put hot sauce - which I always specifically instruct not to put it Third time the beef was all fat pieces and it was Burnt ..burnt not over cooked..burnt. No sauce what so ever it was tossed in the garbage Fourth time they screw it up again by putting hot sauce ARE U KIDDING ME AT THIS POINT !? this is the 5th time and by just looking at it..it looks like garbage. When I saw the top when the girl wrapped it..I was like seriously ? Is this it ? She's like yah ...what's wrong with it..I'm like don't u see how broken up the bread is. She's like oh no its just the top it's fine..it's normal (while she was tucking in the beef that kept falling out) I told her I'm gonna take ur word on this. Look at the picture. Just the top ?!? If they cared, they would have actually tried. And it is absolutely disappointing because I only live 5 min away. It is insulting to customers, it is very insulting to our culture, you represent the middle east when u serve middle eastern food. This is the representation u have of our country? Absolutely disgraceful I advise no one to go there. U want something better go to paramount, infact drive 10 min more and get osmos these guys don't deserve a dollar spent here.
U want authentic middle eastern food. This is not the place. Wish I could have all my money refunded for...
