To Whom It May Concern,
I’m writing this not just as a patron of The Kakori Indian Mughlai Restaurant, but as someone who deeply values fairness, decency, and the spirit of hospitality — something the staff at Kakori displayed under incredibly trying circumstances on the evening of June 1st.
My family and I had dinner at the restaurant around 8 PM. Though we had preordered 15 minutes in advance and arrived with ample time, the wait still stretched another 15 minutes. Normally, we might have found this inconvenient — but the real issue wasn't the delay. It was the disruptive behavior of a large, inconsiderate group that had taken over the restaurant with their unruly conduct, loud chatter, and general lack of respect for other diners and the hardworking staff.
Among them were a few noisy, unsupervised children, and several adults who were outright rude and entitled. One woman loudly complained, demanding that their table’s order be completed first — as though other people at the restaurant simply didn't exist. One man from their group even demanded the boss come out, and when the owner respectfully offered to correct the order and send out another dish, the group responded not with gratitude but with continued arrogance.
The most appalling moment came at the end, when one of them aggressively questioned why they should pay at all, even using the phrase: “Do you know what Google reviews is?” as a means of intimidation. It was disgraceful.
Despite all of this, the staff maintained their composure. The owner handled the situation with patience, and the kitchen still managed to serve us excellent food. As an added gesture of goodwill, we were even given complimentary items — raita and gulab jamuns — to make up for the wait and disturbance.
Let this be clear: a Google review is a tool for honest feedback — not a weapon to extort or intimidate. When "jhungly" or illiterate people misuse it to attack businesses that are simply trying to do their jobs in the face of rudeness and chaos, they reveal far more about their own character than the quality of service they claim to criticize.
If you're someone considering leaving a review for The Kakori, ask yourself:
Were you fair to the staff?
Were you patient with the process?
Did you respect the fact that restaurants can face challenges during peak hours, especially with large, disruptive parties?
If the answer is no, then perhaps the review that truly needs writing is the one about your own behavior.
To the owner and team at The Kakori: you have our thanks and respect. Keep doing what you’re doing — and know that there are people who see and appreciate your hard work, even when it’s not easy.
Sincerely, A Grateful and...
Read moreThank you for sharing the number; I appreciate it. I wanted to provide some feedback on my experience.
The restaurant was extremely busy, even though all orders were takeout. My order took over 40 minutes instead of the promised 30 minutes. If the kitchen was overwhelmed, it would have been better to temporarily slow down new orders rather than keeping the cashier busy taking more calls.
Additionally, I had an Uber Eats pickup, and for the first time at any restaurant, the cashier refused to hand over my order until I accepted it in the app. This felt unnecessary and intrusive, as they have no right to check my phone. This policy creates an unpleasant experience for customers and is a key reason for my low rating.
While the food itself might be 10/10, I’ve noticed a difference in service standards between Indian restaurants and foreign restaurant.
If cashier doesn’t trust anyone getting uber pickups you should shut it down as we were not fools waiting 15min and getting treated at the end with trustful nature that the order will be marked as pickup in the app. Hopefully, next time, they respect Gig worker privacy and focus on improving...
Read moreIt was our first visit here the food was quite good and we overall enjoyed our meal. When we try a new Indian food place, we get mild as we don’t know the spice levels. There was zero ‘zing’ to taste, but food was flavourful and still enjoyable. Next time we would get a hotter level of spice. We enjoyed the biriyani the most. We found the portions for the curries to be small and lacked protein - a lot of gravy (paneer and chicken). Naan and paratha were also good, but thin.
There were definitely some concerns about cleanliness as the bottle of water on the table were sticky to the touch. We then saw a server hold bottles of water by the tops with no cap on. It worried me how often those bottles were being cleaned and sanitized between uses. Bathroom was also not clean enough to restaurant standards. Even though it’s winter, and lots of salt, etc. comes in the floors were dirty, dusty, salty and looked like they needed a full clean with tables moved after hours.
Lots of people coming in for take-out while we ate our meal. (Lunch time)
But overall, we did enjoy the food - just the restaurant part needs a bit of...
