Visiting Almonte for the first time and while we had booked into The Monte, I’m guessing like a lot of others we had booked a dinner reservation downtown. Heavy thunderstorms though quickly altered our plans and after a conversation with the Inn’s owner Rob about having the best food in town we decided to dine in. What a stroke of fortune. Sifting through the menu with margaritas in hand we decided on the pork belly to start with an expected beef short rib main course. The pork belly was done to perfection, melting away with Asian inspired flavours. It was so good we decided to add the duck rilette as another course for dining pleasure. A new experience equally as wonderful. Sipping away on a lively cab sauv, Rob brought us our main course and another plate of awesome. A fav for my home kitchen, there was a depth of flavour and a tenderness that will have me rethinking my timing at home. Finished with a strawberry basil crème brûlée - light, thin crispy crust where the basil provided a lovely tweak to the sweetness of the strawberry. If you are heading to or around Almonte, The TM lounge at The Monte should be a must destination for those looking for a true dining experience. Thanks Rob for showing us the passion during the day and the execution to match.

We had an amazing dinner last night and enjoyed sitting outside next to the river. The server was fantastic and he helped us select our meal … we needed help as there were so many good choices. One of the most surprising things from the restaurant is that fact that there was only one item on the entire menu that they couldn’t prepare gluten free. My wife is celiac, so this was a true delight. We had the arancini for an app, she had the Tuna and I had the beef short rib for mains… both were out of this world. I had the cheesecake for dessert and it was excellent. The herbs and flowers that were on our plates were grown onsite and picked for our very meals. For those who were ever at “the Loom” or Heirloom restaurants prior to Covid, this is the same chef. The flavours in his dishes are off the charts and the presentation is second to none. The prices are super reasonable, especially for the quality of the food. We were overall delighted and can’t wait to go back. We are blessed to have a restaurant of this quality in the area. Not to be missed!

We had our intimate wedding at the Monte followed by a beautiful family dinner at the Lounge. Chef Richard and his team did an incredible job crafting a seasonal menu for our event and every dish was spectacular. The potato pave deserves a special recognition. Potato leek soup and chocolate pot de creme were also highlights. The service (thank you Rob and Kassandra!) was smooth and allowed us to spend every moment making memories with our guests. They made sure to have an option for our vegan and gluten free guests as well. Rob made recommendations for wine pairings that fit perfectly with the menu.

Travelled from Ottawa. We got to eat outside with a beautiful view. It was quiet and the atmosphere was very friendly. Our server was extremely attentive and didn't rush our meal. We shared a few dishes and he brought them out one at a time which we really appreciated and it gave us time to talk and enjoy each dish. He did have some trouble answering our questions about the menu, which we noticed from a couple of tables.

We really enjoyed our meal. We shared 3 starters and a main. Some nice Asian flavours and in-season ingredients. The food was a little over-sauced for me, but that might be a personal preference.

We both had a cocktail and they were delicious and would definitely recommend! The beer menu was great with a few local draft beers available. We visit Almonte frequently and we will definitely come back...
