Read moreI have been to The Sterling four times, twice for breakfast. This was the third time. On previous occasions, everything was spot-on. Not this time. Two of us ordered Bacon Bennie and agreed it was a mushy, tasteless mess. The use of a crumpet instead of an English muffin makes the bottom disintegrate once the egg yolk is broken. The pre-cooked, salty bacon is tough and just plain salty, overwhelming the delicate taste of a proper hollandaise sauce. Peameal bacon is a better choice. The eggs were cooked soft as suggested but just so, and could have used more time to cook the egg whites properly. The potatoes were just ok, as was the scatter of fruit garnish and a bit of greens. For $23 (?), we both expected more. The mimosa had more OJ than sparking whatever in it. There was a lot of pulp which I didn't mind but others might. My partner's Welsh Rarebit was a piece of sourdough with melted cheese - not the traditional cheese sauce - with a poached egg. Traditionalists may want to order another dish. The service was attentive as always, the volume of the music could have been reduced as it could be in most restaurants. When any space is full of people, the chatter volume is loud enough without the music for me. I like to be able to hear the person speaking that's directly as cross from me. The bill for our two breakfasts, coffee and one mimosa was $69, pre-tip. I'm good paying that amount for an occasional Sunday brunch when the food is worth it. I have to say we were...
Read moreMy family and I visited the restaurant on the evening of Mother's Day. The impressions were terrible.
It was very cold inside, so the women were forced to wear jackets with their festive attire.
The menu consisted of a few appetizers and a couple of salads and was printed on one sheet of paper the size of a small notepad. All! No hot dishes, no desserts. And this is the holiday menu?!
I ordered coleslaw. The taste was very primitive and harsh. I couldn't tell what kind of small flatbread was on top of the salad? My daughter said it was cheese. But the cheese tasted like a flatbread.
The Caesar salad had croutons so large that it was impossible to hold them on a fork; you had to pick them up with your hands. And they were so hard that you could break your teeth.
Cold salads took exactly 1 hour to prepare! Tired of waiting for salads, the children ran across the road to buy ice cream at the kiosk.
Focaccia in reality turned out to be just white bread in terms of quality and taste.
I heard the young woman at the next table say that she cooked better at home than in this restaurant.
I will not go to this restaurant again and I do not advise others to go to it. My family members have the...
