Spoon Sushi — Restaurant in Moncton

Poor customer service from the server at Spoon Sushi today. We were a group of 8–10, and there were only a couple of small plates. I went and asked for a small plate because I needed somewhere to place my chopsticks and did not want my chopsticks to sit on the table. We were also sharing edamame among the group. She immediately and rudely shut me down, saying, "I gave you guys plates to share." (I would think it’s just a small plate, and if a customer asks for one just give them one? since you didn’t bother to give each their own?)

Later, a friend joined us. Since we were already sharing the salad and edamame, I asked her to bring a pair of chopsticks for him. Instead, she aggressively asked him if he was going to order - before providing chopsticks. What if he wanted to share food with me? Why wouldn’t she give him chopsticks just because he didn’t place an order? All 8–10 of us had already ordered, each with bills exceeding $35.

She also forgot to provide napkins and water to multiple people. I had to repeatedly get up and remind her, as she never came to check on us.

I am very sad the quality of the food at Spoon has declined so poorly. I used to love this place and recommend it to everyone even those that would come to visit from out of town ", before Covid" but since they opened the other one on Elmwood this one on Lonsdale has declining steadily!! The new woman chef can't cook house rolls at all!! Huge pieces of avocado overtaken the roll as my photos I took show. My daughter who used to love their house roll and only would get it literally gagged on it and tossed them in the garage because she couldn't take the taste and texture with all that chunks of avocado made it mushy, also when trying to pick up the end pieces it falls apart because it it rolled to loosely. If this was the first time this happened I would overlook these issues but sadly this is every time the woman cooks. Need to bring back the original chefs they were wonderful and the reason I didn't give up on the place until tonight this was the last time eating and wasting money on food that ends up in the garage. The most amazing sushi and customer service ever!!!

I was on vacation when I happened upon this incredible little sushi restaurant! The moment I walked in the door I was greeted. I wasn’t entirely sure what I wanted. The gentleman took his time explaining the menu to me, making suggestions and ultimately helping me decide what I wanted for dinner. He was so patient and kind in doing so! My order was made in a timely fashion (assorted veg tempura, and dynamite roll) and he even brought it out to my vehicle when it was ready.

When I returned to my hotel to enjoy my meal I was pleasantly surprised by the additional garden salad and soup included with my food. My order was fresh and even better than I could have asked for. Prices are also very reasonable for portion sizes and quality of food. I’m just disappointed I live so far away to be able to enjoy this gem again.
