Today we enjoyed a mother's day weekend lunch at the new Mansu BBQ location on Mountain Road. It is an accessible location with ample parking. The restaurant was moderately busy, but we were immediately greeted and brought to a table for four. I was dining with my wife.
The new restaurant is spacious with comfortable seating. It is well lit, nicely decorated, very clean, and well organized.
We were provided water and menus promptly. This was not our first experience as we previously have visited the Dieppe location several times before. Both forks and chopsticks were provided. This restaurant is licensed, but we were fine with the water.
We both ordered the BBQ combination for $21 each. The order was placed quickly. Shortly afterwards, wonton soup was served. This was appreciated as we were hungry. Each bowl contained a flavourful, somewhat salty broth and two sweet pork wontons. It was tasty. As soon as we were done, the empty bowls were removed.
We started with four Korean Mandu, a deep fried dumpling served with a sweet Chilli sauce. They were delicious and were devoured rapidly. Our waiter removed the plate as soon as we were done.
The tempura shrimp course arrived quickly. The four shrimp were perfectly cooked and had a crispy coating. They were delicious with the accompanying terriaki sauce. The empty plate was removed quickly.
The main course was served right away. I had BBQ spicy pork with rice cake (Korean fried style). The rice cake was quite large but was cut into bit sized pieces. The very flavourable pork was served over the rice cake. The pork was mildly spicy and sweet with a nice balance of garlic and other seasonings.
My wife had beef bulgogi over rice cake. This dish was a stir fry with seasoned beef and a blend of vegetables. It was delicious.
The attentive owner came over to our table to ensure that our experience was good.
We were then served a square of cheesecake as a sweet finish. A square of chocolate for each of us came with the bill.
The food and service were excellent. I was very impressed with their organization as well as the timeliness and fluidity of their service.
The owner was very attentive and held the door for each party entering or leaving. He also ensured quality and coordinated the service very effectively. The staff were very professional.
The bill came to $49.34 with tax, plus gratuity. This was a good value.
We were very pleased with this experience and will be returning soon. I can easily recommended this Korean BBQ experience. Everything was done to a high standard. The food was perfectly cooked fresh and was served hot.
We noted other tables having sushi and it looked great. We will have to try...
Read moreThis is a honest review. Good food and cozy atmosphere, but service — especially from the owner — could use improvement.
We’ve visited Mansu Korean BBQ (1855 Mountain Road) several times, and the food has consistently been great. It’s actually my daughter’s favorite! The place is clean, cozy, and has a nice design. We also like the location — a bit away from the busier restaurant areas, with enough parking for a place of this size.
That said, our recent visit for lunch with our family of four had some disappointing moments. Even though we were the first customers of the day and the restaurant was nearly empty, we were seated at a small table near the door, despite several better tables being available. We sometimes dine out to feel a bit more relaxed or elegant, and unfortunately, we didn’t feel that here.
Another thing that really bothered us was how the owner handled a simple situation. My son had to step away from the table to use the restroom — just a normal break — but the owner seemed overly suspicious and questioned him in an unfriendly tone. It was as if he jumped to conclusions, wondering if my son had something serious like diarrhea or vomiting. We hadn’t even thought that way, and his response felt unnecessarily harsh and uncomfortable. If something were wrong, of course, I would call the attention of the staff — but there are kinder, more respectful ways to ask what’s going on.
The food remains enjoyable and the ambiance is good, but customer care — especially from the owner — really needs to improve. A bit more warmth and understanding would go a long way in making families feel...
Read moreI went out for a date to the Moncton location on Wednesday night. My boyfriend and I had such a pleasant experience. We went around 6:39 and it wasn’t super busy but steady & we got taken care of right away and received our meals all within 15 minutes. We ordered a variety of dishes.. the chefs and staff respected my dietary restrictions as I am lactose intolerant. I have been to this location quite a few times before but our most recent time was our best experience this far solely based upon our service and the amount of care we had received. There was one younger girl, I didnt get her name but she had very long hair , whom it was my first time seeing her so I assume she is new, and she was so lovely and caring, she doubled checked with the kitchen staff to make sure all of my food was made without the use of butter, cream cheese etc etc… she also made sure our glasses of water never went empty, and made great conversation with my boyfriend and I . She was so pleasant , and is the reason I ranked our overall dining experience a 5. The owner was also very pleasant, as well as the other younger lady who had served the table next to us. Very great staff!
Also, our food was served very quickly, plated beautifully and very delicious…and at the end of our supper we even got a complimentary cheesecake bite ! Definitely recommend visiting the Moncton Location, you don’t want...
