To the management: We are visiting from Ottawa, our 2nd time in the Mont Tremblant area in the last month. We travel quite frequently and love eating out when we travel because this is a treat for my wife and I. On this visit we had very good friends with us, who were exposed to this rude behaviour. I also understand that the service industry has adopted a new tipping system that now the lowest margin for their tip seem to be 15%. I am willing to do my part and support those in the service industry that require a hand making ends meet. However, it also should be the customer's choice as to how much to tip a particular server based upon their experience. I base my tipping percentage based on 3 criterias, the individual server's attention to detail, the delivery of the food within a reasonable time, and the quality of the food served. Our server tonight was audacious enough to suggest the tip that I had left was not sufficient. I explained to our server that although the service was average and not exceptional our fries were cold. The server explained that I should have brought this shortcoming to her attention. Although I could have done just that after taking a significant amount of time to deliver our food it should have been ready for consumption. Therefore, I ate the burger which was great and the cold fries. Before my party arrived we requested to be seated outside when we made our reservation. However, upon arrival we were told that we could not be seated outside. But we saw people sitting outside when we arrived. Not being seated outide was perfectly fine but even when we were leaving there were still individuals seated outside. As I said while our service was adequate but not exceptional, the food took some time to be delivered but we were not in a hurry. However, when our burger and fries arrived the burger was great but the fries were cold. As I said at the start of this review the server had the audacity to comment on her tip which was 10%. I based that tip percentage on all the criterias I indicated earlier. This is not the manner in which a server should address whether or not the tip was sufficient in that individual's mind. This discussion after our meal was what I considered to be extremely unprofessional and rude. In retrospect the10% I had tipped was more than that individual deserved based on the after service attitude. The experience left me bewildered and shocked. It is not a server's place to question the percentage of the tip left with the customer. But take that percentage to examine what could have been done better to achieve a higher percentage and apply this to the next party they serve. I would suggest respectfully to the management that they train their service staff on the proper etiquette when dealing with customers as it applies to their tip. Read moreI'm really torn writing this review. We came on a Tuesday in July (24th) and had really high expectations about eating here. We made reservations for 7:30. We were seated fairly quickly in the restaurant area. It took about 10 mins for our server to come to our table, greet us and give us the specials of the day. We went with the calmari app as a starter and placed our drink order as well. And then we waited and waited. Our server came back and asked us again what our order was for our main courses. We asked if he remembered our drinks and if they were coming? They eventually did. Our starter app came a full 45 mins later after sitting down. Our server recognized this and comped my daughters drink ( Shirley Temple). And then we waited some more for our main courses. Our dinner finally arrived an hour and fifteen minutes after finally sitting down. I ordered the Grilled Cod. My wife had the pasta special and my daughter had the steak and fries. The long wait for our dinner sucked. It was a rainy humid night in town and the restaurant didnt have an A\C which didn't help while waiting for so long. Our food was great!! My Grilled Cod dish was amazing. Mashed potatoes and grilled veggies were very good that came with it. I tried my wife's pasta special and it was delicious. My daughters steak was cooked perfectly, medium-well, but not over cooked which has a tendency to happen sometimes with medium-well steaks depending on the chefs. Our server was sympathetic to our excessively long wait for our food. We had our bread refilled twice and did get extra water. We finally started eating our mains around 8:45pm. Due to the lack of A\C it really was an uncomfortable wait for our dinner. As for the long wait. Our server mentioned to us that the grill area in the kitchen was small and due to the bar and the restaurant using the same kitchen, delays happen. It was unfortunate. I wish I could say the food made up for the long wait. For me, it was the overall experience (long waits, forgotten main course order, heat in the restaurant) that made it disappointing. I recommend going to this restaurant, but try a time during the day, say for lunch. I would go back, but not for a dinner at night. The food is awesome here, however, the long hot wait, forgotten order and long wait for drinks and starter app dimmed the overall...
Read moreBefore you read, check my other reviews I’m not a complainer at all. But Our server was Matthieu and he was very unprofessional. To give a visual, we were at a table of four. He never checked up on us, and did not fill our waters the whole time or refilled our glasses of wine. Not the worst thing right… But what was worthy of a bad review is the following: He was trying to fill our waters when we got there and half of his body was on my arm. It was very uncomfortable. Also when the food came, he had the pepper shaker over my plate and because I didn’t notice him he said yes or no, in a very rude manner. I answered no from the pressure than changed my mind. Then he literally went on top of my head and peppered my plate. The rest of my table were in shock. Then to add, when he was taking my finished plate instead of picking it up from the right where it was open space, he picks it up behind me, in between my husband and I, almost knocking my face I had to push myself back, and he did it again with my aunts plate who was sitting across me, he took her plate and rolled it on the table until the edge that it literally touched me. Not practical and very unprofessional. He was beyond rude and he was very invasive. My husband had to stop me from asking for the manager and complaining. I don’t usually give bad reviews but I was furious with the service and I was not the only one. My whole table was disturbed by his lack of customer service.
Otherwise the food was absolutely delicious. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. The chef was wonderful. I had the Duck and it was just so tender and lovely. It’s too bad the service didn’t do the restaurant justice. If it wasn’t for Mathieu I would have given the place an easy 4 stars minimum.
