I had researched for restaurants to eat at and saw that this one was quite highly recommended. Unfortunately, that was not our experience.
We were seated promptly by friendly staff. It took a while for our server to come by but he was quite friendly also. We asked for a cocktail menu which he promptly brought by and then left for an extended period of time. By the time he returned, we were ready to order our cocktails, appetizers and mains.
We ordered the Parmesan fondue which was absolutely delicious and quite enjoyable. But then we waited yet again. But we didn’t really mind, it was very busy there and it was a Saturday night. So we enjoyed our cocktails and chatted.
When our food came out, my partners looked delicious. But mine was wrong. I had ordered the filet mignon with garlic shrimp but the wrong steak was brought out. The waiter was very apologetic but was surprised when I said I had ordered the filet. He checked his notepad and it did indeed say filet. He took the food back and then came out and asked if I would like the filet cut in half in order for it to cook faster. No, of course not.
My partner ate his food which was quite tasty while I sat and watched. I had ordered a coke and some more water which was not brought to the table. Finally when my food was brought back out, I ordered the coke and water yet again and it again took an extended time for it to be brought to the table. I had ordered my filet medium well and I guess they were trying to re-fire it so quickly that it was very much well done and actually burnt. I was very disappointed as not only was my steak completely overdone and very thin for a filet (I’m glad I didn’t have it cut in half as the server suggested!) but the rest of my meal had been sitting under a heat lamp that whole time! So it was all very cold compared to my steak! The gravy was congealed, the shrimp were cold as were the veggies and fries. But at this point, what was the point in complaining as my partner had long finished his meal and I was very, very disappointed. I did not finish anything on my plate.
What shocked me even more was that when the bill was brought to us, there was nothing done to apologize for our inconvenience and the server’s mistakes. I paid full price for a very disappointing meal and experience. This was our first time here and we...

They pretend to be “hip” by blasting pop music outside, but once you go in, the staff completely ignore you. Then when you finally manage to wave one down, they treat you like you’re a bunch of hobos for daring to ask to be seated and given menus. Once that’s over, good luck getting them to come over once again because all of the staff will deliberately avoid all eye contact and beeline for the other tables that are ready to pay. (We discovered the reason for this when it was our turn: they’ve got handheld card-readers which force you to choose between 15%, 18%, and 20% tip. And the waitstaff literally hover over you like the vultures they are while you are selecting these options.)
Every dish that our horrid waitress Chantal set down was either spilled over because she slammed it down (even spilling onto one of our phones) or just shoved onto our table with no regard for the other items already there. Chantal did not answer our questions before or after ordering, nor come to check up on us at any point. Even getting her to come for the bill was a chore.
Food was actually surprisingly decent if you consider excessive salt a serviceable substitute for all other actual flavors. I guess it’s about the same level as Olive Garden, if Olive Garden was a lot more stingy on portion size. The one star is for that and for the food being quick to arrive, though once again, I’m pretty sure that was because Chantal regarded us as pests to be gotten rid of as soon as humanly possible.
I’ve attached the receipt for 3 reasons: to prove that we were in fact unfortunate patrons of this fraudulent establishment to name and shame our particularly hostile waitress Chantal to show that we did in fact spend quite a lot, especially on the undeserved tip
Good luck and godspeed to anyone unfortunate enough to be contemplating entering much less deigning to fill their stomachs at this...
Read moreLe Vieux was recommended to us by the concierge at our resort in Tremblant. Since we are always up to try a new eatery, and were planning to be in Centre-Ville anyway, it only seemed natural to give them a try. The restaurant is easy to find, and there is ample free parking behind the venue accessed from the main street. We found the interior of Le Vieux to be warm and inviting with an ever-present hum of conversation in the air ... so instantly comfortable. We were seated quickly and I noticed that although it was mid afternoon, there was no shortage of patrons. Our server was at our table immediately offering us a beverage as well as a food menu. She was instantaneous in her switch from French to English and back responding to my language prowess or lack thereof. She was the consummate professional, had a warm smile, and was very comfortable to be around. We ordered sangria and a beer and placed our food order. The appetizers came quickly (escargot au gratin and garlic bread). They were hot and flavourful, and both oozed garlic and needless to say, both disappeared in short order. Next came the entrées and were just as impressive as the apps. I had the Pennine Duck Confit while my spouse got the Chicken Marsala. The pasta was perfectly cooked, the duck was succulent and plentiful, and the portion was just right. Even more impressive was the chicken, which couldn't have been better prepared. I cook chicken three times a week easily, so it takes something special to impress me, and I certainly was. The Alfredo pasta on the side was a welcome accompaniment and again perfectly prepared. We were very impressed with the restaurant and came away knowing well go back ... after all, we haven't even tried the pizza yet. Treat yourself to some great service and Italian food and check out...
