Brunch at Arthurs…
Let’s address the elephant in the room; the wait time. So i was scrolling on the reviews of Arthurs before going and I saw most of its negative reviews were about its long waiting time. Well guess what, I’ve had to wait an hour too and i wasn’t that mad about it, after my brunch. What do you expect from a small family owned breakfast place that is known for being the best brunch place on the island. So if you’re reading this review and you are impatient, then Arthur ain’t for you. If you’re the opposite, grab a protein bar and chill outside and wait as the others, if you can’t do that, go somewhere else cause Montreal isn’t short on brunch places.
Now that’s said, let’s move on to the foods. We were a group of 3. The brunch and regular menu were available for us. We ordered the Moroccan toast, the spicy fried chicken and smoked salmon from their brunch menu, with a side of pancakes. Yes it did take some time to come, but i didn’t mind as we were having a great time talking with each over. Because of the place’s ambiance we even started talking with our neighbours and asking them for their choices on the menu. Their dishes reflect another level of quality. Everything was delicious. From their coffee to their fried chicken, everything were cooked to perfection. The Moroccan toast was a surprise for me, the layers of flavour was amazing. Their pancakes are a must! Fried chicken wasn’t even that greasy, the beef bacon was a discovery for me and they don’t miss on their hot sauce 🔥
On to the service, our waiter was really welcoming and attentive to us. Although, he was busy with the other tables, he always pass by ours to ask if we needed anything. Mind you, that the Brunch service happens every weekends and that place do not slow down. Your service team deserves all my praises 🙌🏾
When its comes to pricing, Arthurs is on the pricey side when it comes to brunch but, their quality and quantity can’t be compared to other places. Their smoked salmon is homemade and our waiter even explained to us where they get their beef bacon. If you’re a big group, get all the dishes from the brunch menu as it’s worth the price if you want to share. I also, purchased a salami sandwich and really didn’t mind the price as the quality was really good.
Overall, Brunch at Arthurs was a first but not a last for me. For me brunching with friends is to have a good time, great food and a great start of the day, Arthurs delivers just that with its quality dishes and...
Read moreUpdating my incredibly detailed 5 star review of several of their dishes and my family’s experience enjoying them simply because after having a friendly discussion around the topic of their pickup situation and how random it works, I was blocked by their community manager or whomever runs the Instagram account. Unfortunately, when I apologized for anything that I said to offend this person, I was already blocked
Even after being blocked, I’m so loyal and supportive to this restaurant that I went to visit them on the second day they were open at the Cathcart and the food was very good, I simply don’t understand people saying it’s “pricey” when you are having a really good meal, with decently sized portions and at a beautiful location, but to each their own
Original review: I had been waiting for a while to try them and I can honestly say that it was well worth the wait, every item that we've tried is incomparable:
Went here for the first time after so many recommendations. I ordered the syrniki pancakes which is $18 on the menu and was asked by the waiter if I wanted blueberries on it, which the option was not on the menu, so I said yes but the waiter did not say there was an extra charge for this nor what it was. The food was very good but when my bill came I saw that that I’d been charged $26 for the pancakes. I asked the waiter why it was so much and he said it was because of the blueberries. I told him he hadn’t advised me of the charge before and that it wasn’t on the menu and he said he’d take the extra charge off for today. After he left to get me a new bill, a woman who I assume was a manager came over and told me they would not be removing the charge because the blueberries were from Quebec and I should know they’re expensive. I repeated what I said before that there was no warning for it. She said they couldn’t put the price on the menu because it changes based on the season which just sounds scammy to me. In the end they kept the $26 charge for the food and took off my $5 drink which I agreed to because I didn’t want to be there arguing all day. Montreal has its fair share of overpriced restaurants that people are willing to pay for regardless, there’s no reason to try and trick your customers into paying a ridiculous price for a handful of blueberries. The food was not worth the trouble the service caused and this could have all been avoided by either having the extra charge written on the menu or have your staff advise the customers when they give the option. There are better breakfast places to go to...
