EDIT* I used to be such a fan of this place but recently they have been going downhill.. let me explain.
I JUST got home from buying a chicken parm and pepperoni steak sandwich, and it has been one of my worse meals in the last few weeks. My pepperoni steak came without pepperoni and hardly any veggies/sauce, basically break and steak which is dry and flavorless. The chicken parm came without any sauce and again, very dry to eat. This meal has been a disappointment and next time, if I continue going, I won't leave without inspecting the sandwiches.
3 weeks prior I had called to put in my order, to save time while they get done, and I was put on hold for 10 minutes. I arrived thinking they were swamped and it was the opposite, just the phone there with a blinking and the whole front desk staff chatting with each other. This was engaging and I had to wait another 15 minutes... which could have been avoided. I don't know what's going on there but these have been my 2 most recent...
Read moreAfter having been to their Verdun location many times, and almost always sticking to my go-to, the porchetta sandwich, I decided to give the location on Masson a try.
The locale, albeit a bit larger, feels just like the Wellington one. The same Italian imported products, wall-decor, great vibes, friendly & hard-working staff.
Unfortunately, it is the second time (the first, being at the Wellington location) their porchetta sandwich has disappointed. Mine & my friends sandwich consisted purely of thick strips of fat. A few strings of actual meat on each slice, but 90% fat. Either the quality of product has gone down, or, the folks preparing the sandwich need to be told to discard the fat instead of stuffing 8 slices of it in a sandwich. I make porchetta at home: porchetta is itself a fatty, greasy meat, but the keyword is “meat,” which I saw none of in my sandwich. (And really, it was only the porchetta itself - the rest of the ingredients, as usual, were...
Read moreI hate to leave this comment but as I would give an advice to a close friend I want to do the same to one of my favorite sandwiches spot in Montreal. I usually love your eggplant parmigiana sandwich but last evening it wasn’t even close to how it used to be. Yesterday it was just a fried eggplant with very little to no tomatoes sauce and very little mozzarella, tons of spicy pepper and due to that just way different from the usual parmigiana you usually serve, where it’s actually a proper eggplant parmigiana in the sandwich. And recently it wasn’t the first time. As last time we can around 2 months ago, we had a similar disappointing experience and the sandwich was massively oily and again very spicy because of too many spicy peppers compared to the other ingredients. Keep it up guys, try to be more consistent and if a product is not ready there is no shame in asking to wait or propose...
