Unfortunately I am forced to retract my previous review after receiving unwarranted and incredibly rude address my last visit. It would appear staff are cooperative and pleasant should you there not be question or problem, however with the inkling of dissatisfaction the tone shifts and I was met with hostility, defensiveness, and blame for my lack of awareness of a tradition outside of my background. No matter how sweet the pastries, which I have regularly purchased and recommended to others over the past 7 years, this last interaction and client service has left a distinctly bitter taste. I hope that the management shall review the way employees treat customers who might come in with sincere concern and suggestion.

NOTE/WARNING : my stopping in was merely to suggest a warning in some form be issued to any who might purchase the Galette des rois, given my surprise the previous evening after having bitten down on a hidden small and very hard inedible sheep. Rather than hear me or my concern, I was repeatedly and aggressively told that this is the "fève" and that the clients who purchase these seasonal items are aware of the tradition so no warning is required. Obviously, this is untrue and a grossly presumptuous argument to make, placing blame on the client for being unaware or for purchasing an item outside of their own cultural background. Small place in neighborhood at 5 min from metro Mont Royal (corner Rachel/St-Denis). Good brew coffee and viennoiseries that looks like home made. Several artisanal breads style miche but never taste them. Discount of 15% on beverage when you bring your cup. Staff seem disorganized and forgetful with orders. During morning rush hour it gets tight and ppl wait outside or come later for their order. I order a soup thinking it was fresh made but the guy said he could put it in microwave... The bread in this bakery taste like the bread from Première Maison. It's okay but it's not the quality they claim to be as an independent bakery. The employees in this location behave quite arrogant. Plus now they have a strange "policy" and most of the times refuse to put bread in a plastic bag unless it's sliced (if they go "no plastic" they should just not have the bags in the store and I’d support that), instead they give a bag depending on how they feel like tonight and make a really big and loud deal about it). Maybe this bakery was good in the past but...
