As far as traditional Italian Bakeries go, this one is excellent for all of your traditional Italian goods. They'll prepare fresh sandwiches for you for an affordable price, and they have a pretty fine assortment of imported goods that are much harder to find, normally.
I was blown away when I found packs of 3 of Simmenthal at 9$, and walked out of the place with other tasty snacks like taralli.
Their specialty however is the Zeppole di San Giuseppe, which they prepare from (usually) the month leading up to Easter. These ricotta-filled pastries are a staple of Italian baking and they aren't kidding around when they say these are their specialty! Talk...
Read moreI stopped by to have a cake commissioned for the birth day of a loved one and they made me a wonderful cake. I also had the opportunity to pick up some very nice chocolatines and strawberry danishes too, all of which were reasonably priced and delicious. I liked the store; I liked the range of Italian products, and I thought the staff were some of the downright friendliest people in this neighborhood. I regret not trying this place many years ago and feel like I've cheated myself out of some real good food...
Read moreOk, this place has been an epiphany for me. I have been in Montreal for almost a decade. I feel the same Italian atmosphere in certain neighbourhoods like my native Niagara Ontario. But I’ve always been looking for a good old fashioned bakery that reminds me of a place called Portage Bakery in the Falls. This is it. Amazing amazing bread (get there early!) plus grab your Italian essentials too.
