Mont-Istanbul — Restaurant in Montreal

The food was lovely, but I wanted to leave this review to warn of the many gray cross spiders (larinioides sclopetarius) out front. They are mainly out of the way of the seating area, but I noticed some under tables and some of their (beautiful!) webs were placed in areas where they might accidentally be disturbed.

These spiders are not aggressive, and usually only bite if their web is threatened. Their venom is toxic, but rarely serious (pain/reactions range between a mosquito bite to a bee sting).

If you choose to sit outdoors, please take care to make sure you are not disturbing them/destroying their webs. Sitting away from the light of the sign/window is a safe bet since this species strategically place their reflective webs near lights to attract prey. I've been eating here regularly since I found out about it through a friend who told me that this was the best Doner outside of France. I believe him.

The food not only reached my expectations but also surpassed them. The ingredients were varied, fresh, and the meats were expertly seasoned. What surprised me the most is that they bake their own bread in-house, which not only elevate the flavors, but it also makes the experience feel more authentic.

The customer service here is top-notch. The owner and the rest of the staff are friendly and welcoming. They always make sure that you leave satiated and happy.

Hats off to the prices too, which are more than adequate. For the quality and amount of the food, Mont Istanbul is a steal.

This place is incredible. I ordered the donair platter 2 days ago. I was able to finish it. I dare you to do the same. The food is awesome and the quantity distinguishes it from other places. My new favourite restaurant to eat. Lovely patio too. They were low on bulgur for my platter and instead of giving me the last scraps, she went and refilled it for me which I thought was kind as compared to other places.

Oh, and they smile at you... I know that's strange these days, but the lovely woman who served me, actually looked happy to see me. Lol

I'm going back today... trust me that you'll want to go for a good long walk afterwards and you won't be hungry for the rest of the day! 4.8 isn't good enough for...
