It's rare when an excellent brewery has a taproom that produces food on par with their beer. Harricana is such a place. On a recent visit here I had the good fortune to arrive during their anniversary celebration, and they had their taps full of celebratory brews (their own of course) from their cellar. They even had aged flights of different beers, some even had 3 years of aging. Another thing that impressed me about their brewery portfolio was that on 20 taps they only had one IPA, and usually in the states it's the opposite at most breweries. It speaks to Harricana's brewing team's range, as there was a highly diverse array of brews to choose from. Being heavily biased to Belgian styles, I thought their Saison's were incredible, but the stouts and porters (one of which was on nitro) were all delicious and amongst the best beer I've drank in Canada. Beyond the beer though...... What really sets Harricana is that not only can you drink amazing beer, but you can also eat some incredible food. I had cheese croquettes that had this amazing applesauce/butter dip with them and for my main I had a gargantuan lamb shank on top of mashed potatoes. All of this was delicious, I even cleaned my plate and all that was left was the bone! Finally, and it's important to mention, the staff here are so kind and warm- further cementing my belief that all of the Quebecois are amazing people. Both my bartender and my server were some of the nicest people I met during my most recent Montreal trip. And of course they were well versed in beer and both of them were gorgeous, which is always nice too! Brasserie Harricana is a pretty incredible place. I've already told some friends and family about it and they'll be visiting soon. I'll for sure be back here on my next trip to Quebec. Do yourself a favor and drink some excellent beer and eat some delicious food at...
Read moreWe had a very unfortunate and poor experience at this place. I went to this place with my colleagues from work, decided to give it a try cause it’s 3 min away from the office. From start to end it was disaster, it was 30 degrees that day and outside was cooler than inside it seemed that AC was broken. We were a group of ten people and we were almost sweating it was uncomfortable. We ask for a fan to the waitress and she only could accommodate to approach a small fan in a extreme of the table and I could barely feel any wind from it (I was in between one of my colleagues and the fan) After this we got some water for all of us and it was warm almost hot not even a glass of ice or at least cold water to compensate the a AC broken. After a good 15 to 20 min wait they took our order and our drinks got almost after 20 mins as well, when we start receiving our food we got 3 plates first after 5 min another 4 plates after 5 min another plate and the last plate took over 20 to 25 mins more to arrive. So there we were 8 people with their plates waiting for the last one to be served. My colleague that didn’t received her food was so disappointed and was feeling bad for all of us waiting for her to eat all together. The waitress seemed to hide from us, never came and explained what was the reason of the delay or apologized for it. By the time the plate arrived all of our food was COLD and the only thing the waitress said was I’m sorry your drink will be on the house. Like if that would fix the whole bad experience we had. No empathy at all from the waitress, awful service. We were there to celebrate one of our colleagues and this experience ruined the special occasion. Very disappointed, certainly...

Management massively understaffed the room, despite multiple large groups reserved (ie. completely foreseeable volume), so service was basically impossible to get, and poor when we did manage to garner someone's attention.
My out-of-town guest and I decided to split their mixed grill platter (allegedly for 3), which consisted of an overcooked Contre-Filet that was mostly fat cap, and essentially unseasoned, two fennel sausages so dry they might as well have been filled with sawdust, and a little pile of ribs so utterly without any flavouring agent they seemed like they were still in some early prep stage. After tax that's a $98 plate (no side; just a pile of lettuce underneath - as they're trying to sell similarly overpriced accompaniments à la carte). Our other two co-diners ordered burgers which were C+ (adequate, but not worth the price either).
At some point we had sat in front of empty beers and inedible food for 40 minutes with no sign of a server, or quality check, so I went to the host desk and asked for a manager. That person declined to even come to the table, so I told the host we'd pay for our beers/burgers and leave.
It was an embarrassment, and my sense is that lands on the owners' doorstep. The manager on duty was also obviously the overmatched bartender as well, and had no chance of providing any real-time support beyond that, leaving the too-few FOH staff hung out to dry, and clients ignored. Add the insultingly overvalued, shockingly bland food, and it was rough.
If they didn't make nice beers, this is a 1-star review, but you can buy that retail now, so I'd suggest doing that and saving your night out for a...
