TL;DR high quantity, average quality, average pricing. Excellent service, seating and atmosphere, delicious (real) pistachio ice cream.

The good: excellent service, nice store atmosphere, clean, generous servings, and the pistachio ice cream. Seating is plentiful and comfortable

The reason for the rating is 3 is because it’s not exceptional or somewhere I would visit twice aside from the pistachio ice cream.

For example, the Tahitian vanilla does not taste strongly enough of vanilla. The dark chocolate is good, and creamy, but the chocolate flavour is not as prominent or rich as the gelato place down the street at saint zotique and st Laurent. The mango tastes like the mango juice you get from overseas, it isn’t artificial like other comments have said, it is real mango but it’s bottled, not freshly peeled behind the counter. Which is fine but it’s not fresh mango which other gelato stores do, and again, not exceptional.

My other note is that the freezer is a touch too cold to properly bring out the flavours in the gelato. There was a slight freezer burn, likely from scooping too close to the edge.

While the pricing is technically good for the amount of ice cream, it would be more favourable to make smaller scoops with more quality per scoop. $7 for a medium cup would be expected out of high end ice cream spots which have more...

The first time I visited, I was warmly welcomed by a kind lady with glasses and curly hair, her service truly stood out. A few days later, I was served by a younger brunette woman who seemed stiff and distant, but I didn't really say anything about it. On my third visit today, Wednesday, June 25th around 4 p.m., that younger lady was there again behind the counter, and her attitude felt even colder. She clearly knew she was being unwelcoming but made no effort to be polite. It honestly felt like she resented serving certain people, which came off as quite rude. I didn’t say anything, I just left and went to Café Gelato next door. It cost more for the same product, but I preferred that over a “you’re not worth my time” kind of service. Now, if I see the other kind lady with the glasses, I’ll know we'll get a nice service. She was there today too but I wasn't served by her unfortunately. Not trying to be harsh but the other one knows she's not nice at all. But I'll come back to try another time since...

I came here twice during a trip to Montreal last week based on my friend's recommendation. The first time around, the staff (dark haired man) was super nice.

Then, when I came back the 2nd time around, a day or two later, on the evening of Sept 29th, the white woman with short blonde hair who was working was visibly aggressive from the moment my friend and I walked in. She was rude and curt throughout our interaction, told me we could only sample one flavour (this wasn't the case when we came the last time), and scoffed and walked away when I didn't use tap. She had a huuuuge attitude problem, and I suspect may be prejudiced because other male, non-racialized clients that came before and after us were treated respectfully.

If you're a racialized person, steer clear. I did not feel welcomed here, and my friend, who had previously been a repeat customer, will not be coming back. The ice cream is nothing to rave about, and certainly not worth...

I think I was welcomed by the owner of the store but I am not sure. However, the person gave me a big portion of pistachio gelato. I was surprised by the quantity for the price (it doesn’t look a lot from the picture but trust me, I ordered 1 scoop when it could easily mistaken for 2 scoops). I am very happy that this store still stands during covid-19 times because it would be a bummer if it wasn’t there anymore. My pistachio gelato tasted very good and it didn’t taste artificial (like they said, it is homemade). A definite artisanal gelato store to visit when you are near the little Italy neighborhood and when you shop near Jean-Talon market :)

I got the nocciola and gianduia — pistacchio was unfortunately out, would have been nice to try another classic flavor! The texture was quite good, closer to gelato rather than ice cream, although the nocciola flavor had ice crystals inside which made the taste more watery and affected the texture. The nocciola flavor was good but not as deep as I would have liked, and the gianduia was quite good. I would recommend this store if you’re looking for gelato in montreal, although unfortunately it doesn’t exceed excellent ones I’ve had in Italy.

The ice cream is good but very overpriced, it was 7$ for the smallest cup and the size wasn’t that big… I’m Italian and I’m just really surprised that ice cream can be this expensive… I’m just gonna add a screenshot of the transaction to show that it was actually 7$ for the ice cream. The transaction shows 21$ because we were three people and we ordered the same small cup. I understand that the products might be pricey but we’re still talking about ice cream…
