I will tell you the story about this restaurant. This used to be one of, if not, THE BEST Greek restaurant in Montreal. It was owned by a Greek gentleman, Mr. Charalambos Makris who opened this place up sometime in the late 1970s or early 1980s. A man who wanted Montreal to experience true Greek cuisine.
Our family has been going to that restaurant since 1983. Mr. Makris, the original owner, never skimped on quality. The food was always impeccable and the place, immaculate. That is until he got old (his kids who did not seem motivated to take the business over) and was compelled to sell his business to a Romanian individual who was then (in 2012) a cook at his restaurant.
Ever since, this new individual (Mr. Valentin) became the owner, the inevitable happened. The quality plummeted. Many details were no longer the same. The tzatziki was no longer consistently good. Sometimes sour, sometimes salty, sometimes leaky. The meats weren't marinated as well. The freshness of the ingredients was no longer present. The onions, tomatoes, salad weren't cut with the same amount of finesse and care as when Mr. Makris was the owner.
The original owner wanted the city to experience authentic Greek cuisine. The new owner is simply a gentleman who runs a business. He does not run the restaurant the way it used to be run. It now serves Greek food, similar to any other Greek restaurant. It is not nasty, but it is...

How to destroy 25 years of loyalty for a souvlaki pita at $6.50! The new administration has removed all the good that was left in the restaurant...
My family has been eating at your restaurant for over 25 years and we ALWAYS order the same thing (2 large pikilia, fried squid and 4 pita souvlaki (just the sandwich). Yesterday, we came as a family (4 people) and the waiter refused to serve us 4 pita souvlaki (which is on the menu) saying that he only serves them on weekends with plates (it's not listed anywhere on the menu and new policy). Anyway, you want 4 souvlaki pita and they would like to charge you the price of 4 full plates. We therefore order NO plates by PRINCIPLE. We therefore end the evening with our simple starter ordered rather and to drink our wine.
This is how to insult your customers! I still can't believe it! Well, while we quoted our wine without having supper, we see the owner of the restaurant being served at his table pita souvlaki sandwiches (without the full plate) as we wanted. In short, the server tells us that he can do nothing for us despite the fact that he does it in our faces. The owner has the right but basically we don't! It's not super fair as a practice, especially in front of your customers at the next table.
As a regular customer for 25 years, it's really disrespectful to be treated like this. With the prices that have doubled on the menu, the pitiful service offered (both in French and in English, the server understands nothing) and the lack of respect, I think we will stop being regular customers.
The restaurant is no longer the small neighborhood restaurant that is friendly, welcoming, attentive to your needs as before. Really...
Read moreVery nice Gem that I only explored this glorious sunny day of our Cold Montreal February month on a work day that my daughter and I both were at home for school and work but felt like something different so we took a drive to Google's suggestion for nearest Greek food place on route to our house. We were lucky! Google found this place Parthenon!! We made the order on the phone and did not realize it that to souvlaki Pitas two of them with fries was so HUGE and the fries were actually potatoes done so crispy! Walk in to the Covid struck but was happy to see down to earth happy people enjoying what they do.. and I mean do very very well. Chat a little with the people working behind the counter and realized they were proud of their establishment and that my daughter and I choose or I should say Google push us in that direction. So if you are planning to eat Greek food or never ate Greek good this place is worth the...
