Update for 2023 I haven’t been to this place since the pandemic, it used to be a passable all you can eat place, now it is worse, we ordered some maki and they were 90% rice 10% fish, I think they only put two ingredients in their maki to fill it with rice. Also, now every single dish is spicy, I’ve never had a wakame salad that was spicy and somehow they made it spicy, we even ordered some rice for our toddler and it was spicy, unfortunately, this will be the last time I go to this place because it was mostly empty on lunch, which I found very rare
Also, in the past it was cheaper and you could order Sashimi, now there is no sashimi on lunch, which is crazy
Be careful if you don’t like spicy food I’ve been going to this place steadily for one and a half year, it’s a pretty good all you can eat sushi place if you love spicy food, however I don’t so for me it’s far from perfect and here’s why: I don’t eat spicy food so I usually request no spicy mayo, to which they are kind enough to comply. However, they put the spice elsewhere on the maki with a weird tempura or spicy salmon tartar in EVERY roll you ask to remove the spicy mayo, which makes you drink water and obviously go full From my latest visit, I have 2 perfect examples: there’s a maki roll called: sushi plus, here’s the description on the menu: salmon, tempura, avocado, spicy mayo, lightly fried. If you remove the spicy mayo, this roll shouldn’t be spicy right ? Wrong ! Let’s analyze the ingredients: salmon and avocado are certainly not spicy, tempura is just fried batter, then why was there a salmon tartar inside my roll ? Of course it’s a special spicy salmon tartar and that’s what I call their secret weapon against people who eat a lot There are two rolls called Kamikaze (salmon, spicy mayo, tempura, cucumber, avocado and masago) and Alaska (crab meat, spicy mayo, crispy tempura, avocado and masago), once again if you remove the spicy mayo there is no reason for them to be spicy, well guess what? They were and this time I didn’t even see a difference between both types so they basically threw us 8 pieces of maki with spicy salmon tartar inside and I was kind enough to not send it back So if you are like me and avoid spicy food, be careful with what you order and what you get, because they will trick you one way or another to...
Read moreWe went there for the "all you can eat". We had high expectations. It would soon be my husband's birthday and we chose to celebrate in advance. It was supposed to be once in a year event for us - we are a low income family and we have a tight budget. It started well. We felt welcomed and liked where we sat. We looked in excitement at the food choices on the digital pad. We selected several typical sushi dishes and were ready to devour. Food came and we were happy eating. Then, quite soon, the speed of being served slowed down. We didn't pay attention and just finished what we had on the table. Then, there were no more sushi dishes. We waited. Nothing came. We noticed our neighbors who had come before us had no more sushis coming. We waited. We checked our orders and made sure they had been successfully sent. We waited. Nothing came. We watched as people who came after us had plates of sushi freshly served. We waited while adding some French fries to our orders. Came the French fries, not sushis. We waited, more and more impatiently. Finally another plate of sushis ! Our hopes were up again. We lost no time in taking these in while anticipating more. We waited until we realized that plate was the last one we could possibly get. We gave up and paid the bill. We left. We learned the lesson from our experience and also from our observation of how other customers were served: this restaurant ran a fake "all you can eat". It really is a "ALL YOU CAN WAIT". You get some of the first orders - the less expensive dishes. You get a very small amount of the expensive sushis. You get whatever is cheap on time - French fries, salty miso soup, tea, ice cream. You may get one more plate of sushis at the cost of huge waiting time. You are left alone until your patience and energy run out and you have no choice but to leave. Shame on the management of this restaurant! How could they run business like this? A restaurant should be a place which brings people warmth, joy and loving memories. Ironically, this place succeeded in making it a once in a year...
Read moreThis restaurant started off REALLY good with fresh sashimi, well-made rolls, delicious food from the kitchen and good service but most recently, they start to skimp on the food and the material. Their Har Gow used to be filled with huge filling with just very thin skin; you take one bite and you taste the filling right away. Now the skin is like 2 inches thick and you have to bite till the very middle to taste the filling. Their General Tao chicken used to be really authentic and one of the best I have tasted in Montreal, the most recent time we went, the chicken wasn't even fresh and was hard and smelled like they have been cooked with oil that's 5 days old. Their sashimi pieces are getting smaller and thinner. And most disappointing of all is their dynamite roll, they used to arrive with hot fresh shrimp tempura inside, the most recent time we visited there, the rolls were all falling apart and they stuffed the rolls with soggy, cold overcooked tempura again with thick dough it was disgusting!!! I don't know whether they are skimping on the food because they are not making money anymore or the kitchen staff is new and haven't got the handle of things or they simply just want to make more money without raising the prices. We have been going to the Cote Des Neiges location since it opened and it's so sad to see something that used to be good going downhill. Oh well, all good things come to an...
