Other reviewers were not exaggerating; the ordering area of the restaurant does indeed resemble a fish market, and there you can select as little or as much seafood as you'd like (you'll be charged by weight) with the addition of being able to specify how you would like it cooked/prepared. A nice selection is available but not as much variety as in a real fish market, so do adjust your expectations.

The dining environment is very informal. The dining room is simple with a somewhat cluttered table setup and a loud conversation noise level. Avoid visiting during peak times (like Friday evening) because the crowd will greatly diminish your gastronomic experience and the level of customer service is dropped to appalling levels. Customers squeeze between tables and bump into each on the way to the restroom, cashier and so on; waiters literally run between the kitchen and the dining room tables and some simply look you straight in the eye and ignore your call for service. Even when you manage to get a request in, it is often forgotten and another two or three requests are necessary before someone attends to your need. This means you get extra sauce once the food is nearly cold, drinks way after your thirst cravings, etc., and this all lessens your dining experience.

The quality of some of the food however is top notch, very fresh and full of flavor. The clear winner for me was the garlic shrimp, closely followed by the fried breaded calamari and the whole grilled fish (type recommended by fishmonger). Having fries on the side are also a must. The mussels with tomato sauce are also good but not necessarily special. The bread served on the side is not the best though; a lighter and more porous bread would better absorb the sauces and it would fill you less, leaving more room for the seafood.

Definitely worth visiting during off-peak hours; otherwise, take the whole experience in stride. Good restaurant to share a family meal (there were several kids and even a couple of babies). A solid four stars for food but customer service is two and a half...

Rayan's Poissonerie is a would not reccomend Seafood Restaurant.

For me, I will not come back here. When we dined here around 2018. It was good for the most part. You can choose any seating you want and it is not really organized and manageable. You can pretty much do what you please.

Service here is alright and I feel like they care more for money than Quality and service. Some of the employees here want to robbed you of your money.

The food there is extremely salty. Almost all of there food is doused with Salt and so much seasoning so much so you need a lot of water with you. No taste on the meat.

The waiters and staff are nice but you will have different waiters at each time you go. So it depends on them.

When you order you need to first choose your food sort of like a butcher or fish shop at a store which is nice but you need to watch and communicate with the guy to make sure you get the right amount and good measurement.

At the end of the meal you need to double check and make sure your food is right since sometimes they mess up your total and make sure you know that you ordered properly and good. They also expect a big tip which is ridiculous. It is a scam!

All in all with the saltiness, too much seasoning bad management not enough options with drinks, and money over food and no experience it may be our last time here.

I do hope they improve on politeness quality and a better restaurant principle for all customers and environmental sustainability.

I would not reccomend this this seafood restaurant and will...

Im giving 2 stars just because the fish is good and fresh! The price is too high, and the service is not good at all. If it's your first time you will never understand how it works there !!! Im from usa, so it's my first time, I went with my family, and we waited for a while before we understand how it works!! You have to order from the counter first, that's what I was told from a server! There is no menu, no picture in the wall, no signs, nothing to know what they have or what you can order with your fish !?!? So in the counter it was a rude person, that I had to ask him what they have and what should I do to make the order, because like I said there nothing that could give you an idea what they can serve you or what you can order!! So this rude person in the counter his job is just to take the order from customers and he get mad when I asked him what can I order, so I just ordered the fish when I saw a server coming out from the kitchen with a dish of potetos I added it to my order ! So if I didnt saw him, I will never know that they have a great potetos! And also I herd that they have good rice, but how can I know that if its my first time !!!! The staff and servers are not professional, no one is smiling !!!!! They need to improve...

3/5 stars Rayan is located in the heart of Cote Des Neiges. There is no free parking unless you park far. 3 stars why? It’s good but expensive for the quality of the food. I’ve eaten fresh seafood in Maine, New Brunswick and PEI and I would said the food is average. However you are paying for the “experience”. So when you arrive you line up in their small market where you choose your seafood and then order the way you want it cooked. You sit at your table and it’s served to you. The food tastes pretty good but average to me. To each their own. Service is good however when I was lining up to pick our seafood I was attempting to take a photo of the lobsters and the man that was serving us yelled at me to not take a photo. When I say yelled I meant he yelled angrily. He apologized later because he was afraid I would post it on YouTube. That’s alright but never ever yell at your customers. And this really affected my rating. Atmosphere was however great. The place is surprisingly huge! Great for big families. I would recommend.

Horrifying experience here. The fried fish and chips were decent. The shrimps was ordinary, considering about 27$/lb not worth it. We didn't tip, so the cashier reacted rudely, as you can see by the reviews they coerce you to pay tip, make you feel guilty. 'He said if you cannot afford to tip, don't eat here ' We have to understand how the restaurant market works, the owners have margin of beyond 50% in these industries, they are the one responsible for paying fairly to staffs. But, the staffs are delusional to think that the average earning customers should pay for both food and staffs, the society has been brainwashed not realizing the benefitters from this are restaurant owners who keep on getting richer and open multiple franchises/oulets. Occasional tipping for service to staffs should be there, On top of that some restaurants keep the tip for themselves. I hope we understand the flaw in system.

FRESHEST SEAFOOD PLACE EVER!! The unique thing is that you pay here based on per pound, so the price varies. The highlight of this place- 'GRILLED OCTOPUS'. The flavors were flavoring🤌🤌✨️ The potato fries were crunchy and unlinke any other fries I tried. The fried Calamari was really fresh and paired well with the dip. On the other hand, the rice was slightly hard and basic, I wouldn't go for it the next time. I also had high hopes for lobster but it was a bit of a disappointment. The shrimp was so fresh and soft but the flavor was really light, I wish it was stronger and had more to it. The food that you see in the pictures was more than enough for 4 people. It was quite filling and had unique flavors. This place should definitely be on your list if you love seafood! P.S- they wait time is a bit long so be prepared but don't let that atop you, the service, experience and food makes up for it!
