I dont recommend the restaurant to anybody, I wont go there anymore and I wont let my friend to go there too! very rude waiters, very impolite, you will get offend if the waiter does not like you!!!!!!! I live in Montreal since 2021 and for the first time i went to cafe Toranj which is gonna be my last time too. I accompanied a friend who was new in the town to café Toranj to have an Ice cream and by the chance there was a live music over there. we ordered our ice cream and spent over 20 min over there and as soon as we finished and tried to pay money the waiter told us that, either we need to pay $15 or order food because the Saturday night is special! but we didn
t know their rules and nobody told us about it too! They had to inform us about their rules so that we would know about it and plan it prior to sit down in the restaurant!! anyway, after some discussion, the waiter offend and insult us by cursing that why don
t you support the Iranian business!! I was shock when I faced this situation to see the waiter offending the customer and he is happy about it!! long story short! I post my experience on facebook and Telegram with all the details, you can follow the social media to know more about it!! I was living in Shanghai, one of the most expensive city in the world for 5 years(and I do have an office there) , I live in Xiamen for 2 years, in delhi, Doha and dubai too!! Despite the waitress being nice, we received a rather bizare service. 1.avoid this place cause Parking is horrible. All nearby streets are by permit only. We were driving around for definitely more than 40 minutes to find a parking space.
A party of 7 people, who 4 ordered the same dish but separately...When the food came out, they were 2 dishes!! Meaning the chef had decided that we should share! We were not even given large plates to even split the rice. This was the most bizzare service Ive ever received in my life...we were shuffling diahes around...it was very uncomfortable. The chicken wasnt impressive, definitely wasnt decorated like all the pictures shown here. and the koobide did not tasted like Koobide and was quite bad. Instead of rice, we ordered salad ( not half rice ans half salad, we ordered full size salad. Please see the photo...I felt ripped off for a 28$ meal.I have been to many many Persian restaurants throughtout the Country and by all means this was the most shocking portion I've seen) Our kids were given some drawnup doodles to paint. The one my son received had been previously drawn and it was muddy ( dried with maked like it was dragged on the floor). I can only imagine that it most likely it was used, thrown on the floor on a winter day and picked up and stashed ro be reused...in order to save the future kids I had ro tear and...

Anyway, based on all the Persian restaurants and relatives' cooking that I've had the priviledge to taste, this place is one of the BEST. The rice is fluffy and tasty, the fesenjoon was nice and torsh (tart) with grogeous decorations of actual pomegranite arils and slivers of pistachio and almond and walnuts, and their kabob....I thought I could die right then and there and be happy because I tried that kabob in my life hahaha. Really, it blew my mind. Everything was so delicious, like the way my aunts cook, and gorgeous decor and the service was great too- our waiter had the patience to speak Farsi with me when mine was mixed with English- he knew English too and easily switched languages when I needed. My boyfriend really enjoyed the food as well😍 His eyes popped when he tasted the muste khiyar (cucumber yogurt side dish), and I decided the one drink that tops my favorite doogh, is now the Saffron Shake (nooshaabeh albar mashti!), which Café Toranj just about sent me to heaven with. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!!! We will be back with our family and friends- we sent pictures of the food and my mom is really excited to come try this. By the way, the music was authentic and relaxing too. And it might be hard to tell it's Iranian from the outside, until you step inside! And there's a nearby parking lot👍 This place deserves infinity...
