Maison des Pâtes Fraîches (la) — Restaurant in Montreal

I was walking around the shop looking at their impressive selection of Italian groceries and freshly made food to go, while waiting for my pizza. When the employee came over to me and gave me the pizza box with a "Votre pizza Monsieur", I thought to myself... hmm that box is a bit small...

But damn😳, when I got home and opened that box. A steamy hot pizza with a nice thick crust, lots of pancetta, saucisse italienne, cheese and the best tomato sauce I have tasted in a long time.

Now sitting in front of my TV enjoying it with a good glass of red wine, while the snow is gently falling outside my window - I am totally full, and I think I will have to save the last slice for tomorrow😉

Delicious fresh pasta and sauces, tiramisu, olives and other grilled vegetables in oil, and catered meals. Nona, the cook, is a wonder of grace and kindness, and the brothers who run the joint are proud old-fashioned guys who care a lot about their customers and treat them right. I sometimes wish their catered meals weren't quite so tomato-ey, but there are options like fish (on Friday) or pepper chicken sometimes. The caponata is to die for! I’ve tried their pizza, lasagna, roasted vegetables (amazing) and cannolis and they are all pretty good! The cannolis are small but it’s the perfect size for a small sweet treat after a heavy meal. This place also offers a variety of Italian goods and frozen products. Overall good experience and the prices are great! It’s more like a cafeteria style type of counter and there’s a seating area where you can enjoy the delicious food and do some people watching as the large windows has a view on...
