Discovered a gem on Fleury Street during the MTLàTable event. Booked a table for brunch to get a feel for the restaurant prior making a dinner reservation. The decor was both charming and inviting, instantly reminding me of a café in Paris. The place was fully packed as I stepped into the restaurant, I came face to face with a waitress who was busily running food, carrying plates in both hands and she managed to nod and smile at me, adding a personal touch to the welcoming atmosphere. A powerful positive greeting that many restaurateurs tend to omit nowadays. Despite the rush, the hostess/waitress/owner took the time to explain the event menu to us, even sharing a few laughs. The food was nothing short of delightful. However, I expected a bit more from the Americano coffee, it was decent but lacked the richness I was hoping for. Overall, it combined excellent food with a friendly atmosphere. It was the perfect start to what promises to be many...
Read moreThe food was excellent! Good balance of flavours - not too sweet, nor bland- at least for the crepe dishes. Went there for brunch and the place was quite busy. Highly recommend that you get a reservation. However, the wait time without a reservation wasnt too bad (~5-10min). Unfortunately, the reason I am not giving this place 4-5 stars is because the service was so slow! Granted the place was crowded, but we waited 30 min for our food. After 30 min, I asked our server if the food would be ready soon, and 5 min later the food shows up. I guess they forgot about us, cause other people who came around the same time as us had been served or were already finishing their meals. I recommend this restaurant for the food, but beware of the wait times and dont forget to nudge your server a little if your order is taking too long. Decor was...
Read moreI can’t believe how difficult it is to find a french cafe here in Montreal. I have been searching all over Montreal for an authentic French bistro / cafe, and this place definitely is NOT! I lived in Paris for several months and ate much better food (impressive chicken and pesto sandwiches on full baguettes for 4€ and beautiful AUTHENTIC and actually delicious pastries that don’t taste like they’re from a grocery store or like a loaf of bread in your mouth) for much less even with the currency conversion. The sandwiches here are terrible, the coffee tastes burnt, and the bathroom is absolutely DISGUSTING! $18 for a sandwich and a cafe au lait! Go to cafe Aroma a few blocks east and you’ll have a coffee to die for and a beautiful salade for $5 less than what they charge here in an authentic Italian atmosphere! I will...
