How can this taste so good? - Burrito Ahogado
The sauce that covers the whole dish... This is a Mexican-style sauce accented with green and red sauces and sour cream. Then there's the apollo cooked to a smooth tender that's balanced perfectly, with beans mixed into the rice.
The star of the dish... the smooth double sauces that melts on the top of your tongue. The tortilla couldn't possibly be any softer, as it kept all the ingredients intact while gliding the knife through. The fact that the chef was able to assemble all the ingredients together, somehow retaining the burritos shape even though everything was soft. The chef has true cooking skills, you can taste the chef's experience and passion with each bite whispers of trail and error. This dish doesn't just feed you but leads and tells you a story.
Joshua? Yoshua? The Manager (Apologies on the name)
From the very start of the night he greeted us not as customers, but as honored guests, full of warmth and energy He efficiently laid out payment options at the beginning, saving us the chaos and confusion at the end. He didn't just recommend drinks he curated an experience. While most of us weren't too sure on which drinks to get, he hyped his favorites, but also honestly warned us about the ones that he disliked and didn't hit the mark. And when it came to the birthday boy. A free celebratory shot was presented. We wanted to capture our event so he helped us capture the moment with group photos, and just as we thought the night was over... another surprise shot for the birthday boy, sealing the evening with a toast of gratitude. With that last shot of the night he paused all his actions and gave a heartfelt speech. He thanked us not just coming, but for choosing his restaurant for our friend's birthday. He had recently reopened, and this event meant the world to him. If you were there with us, you could feel it in his voice. he wasn't just serving us food and attention. he was sharing a milestone in his journey and we were lucky to...
Read moreI wouldn't even give this restaurant a star, to begin with. This restaurant is supposed to be an all-you-can-eat when it isn't. They were extremely cheap, they did not allow me to order the same thing twice. (1 enchilada). They were unfair with the quantities. They would not provide other elements that came with the food such as tortillas. I and my friends were very disappointed so we asked to see the manager. Better yet we got to speak with the owner of the restaurant (a lady with short black hair). She wanted to make us pay 55$ plus 15% tip included on the total of the bill, I always pay 20%, especially for good service, but this restaurant did not provide such service, my friends and I barely ate.Not only was the service poor and cheap, but so were the manners of the owner of that restaurant, she was nothing but disrespectful, she treated me poorly and insulted me in Infront of my friends. As someone who used to work in a restaurant, I know that you can't force anyone to tip 15% especially if the service was poor, I shouldn't have even paid 55$, but I did because apparently, the owner says that " should be supporting my people as a Hispanic and not take advantage of others" (great way of trying to manipulate someone) meanwhile she's the one stealing money from her clients? Make that make sense? She told me to go eat somewhere else if I wasn't satisfied. She Told me that she didn't care if the tortillas weren't at my table. When actually as a restaurant owner you should care because if you want that "Hispanic support" that you're begging for, you would provide a service with manners and not be so cheap with your "people". A true joke the owner and her restaurant. As asked by the owner, we will never be going back, don't gotta...
Read moreI rarely write reviews but the owners are just so warm and friendly that it put my experience over the top.The food is so fresh and delicious and its so reasonably priced. Everything is freshly made, even their tortilla chips. Place is small but cute and cozy. We just walked by and found it interesting so we gave it a try and im glad we did. I did not expect it to be this good which made it even better. Id recommend it all my friends and i’d come back for sure.
UPDATE: went there again last night (june 30 2018). Last time was good so i wanted to bring my companion here. There was a different server and also a different cook i think. Service and food were just as good as last time. TACOS WERE AMAZING. We took one bite and had to stop to marvel at how delicious it was. The drinks were also refreshing and went well with the flavours of the cuisine. I forgot what we ordered but i would ask for what they recommend. Dont order sodas. Its the next day and im still thinking about those tacos. I will definitely return. Its very good value for the quality of food. Small, local, and authentic mexican restaurant! Keep it...
