I hate to do this because they seemed like they were really confused and under pressure as soon as I mentioned I just wanted bubble tea, but it was truly one of the worst bubble tea I've ever had. They recently added a Chatime to their restaurant, and I've been to many Chatime and it was never like what I got and never as expensive (over $8) but I assumed they were struggling and needed to charge more to offset costs. I ordered a large Mango frappé with coconut jelly (something I ordered before at Chatime). I was asked twice what I exactly wanted, in the end I received a light almost clear drink when usually it's a light opaque orange color, it looked like the ingredients were starting to separate before I drank it too. When I did drink it, I couldn't find the jelly, it was all at the top. I've never had the jelly/pearls on top, it was so inconvenient. The flavor was not mango, I think maybe lychee? The worst part though was it wasn't a frappé, I'm not sure what they used to blend the drink but the ice was in huge chunks most of it couldn't fit...
Read moreI wish I took pictures of inside, you wouldn’t know it from the outside but it’s quite nice inside and great for a sit down restaurant! The food however, was just ok. It’s fine but I found everything to be lacking a little in flavour.
Spring rolls (complimentary with a promo they had ordering online for pick up), lacking a bit of flavour and the skin was thicker than I’m used to, the cantonese chow mein flavour was lacking compared to others I’ve had - the broccoli tasted boiled and then sauce thrown on top whereas I’m used to biting into the broccoli and it tasting juicy like it absorbs the flavours, in this case not - though the pan fried noodles were perfect. The fried tofu salt/pepper was good, the beef shallot was pretty good though just missing a little more to make it really good.
It wasn’t bad by any means and I’m sure a lot of other people will be happy with it (as seen in the reviews) but for me, it was just missing a little extra oomph for this to be my...
Read moreThe backdrop of this comparison is Chez Ming of Monk. At Tang I ordered a chicken vegetable plate, rice, shrimp dumplings and spring rolls. Chicken plate had an O.K. amount of meat, not too generous, nor too stingy, the veggies were nice, crispy and of good quality-lots of green brocoli and bock choy. Overall not too bad. The food could have been way better, if it had spices. Chef Tang puts very little ginger and garlic and sauce in the chicken plate and it makes the dish very bland. The rice-sold separately- was old and of poor quality. It was not fluffy and flavourful. It even looked like old rice from the day before. The dumplings came with no sauce and were very bland as well. The rolls were not bad but nothing to rave about. In short, the food at Tang is on the O.K side., but not more than that. If you are looking for something with more bite, Chez Ming in Monk village is a much better bet according to me. Hope this review...
