Read moreI am 53 yes oĺd and have been going to this restaurant for almost 40years, basically since I was 14. It was my munchies 2am restaurant and always consistent. Over the last 2 years, renovations were made and it has not been the same ever since. Not because of the decor but because of the service. In the last 3 visits, I, a regular of 40 years who is known by all the staff and ownership have been subjected to extremely poor service. Bringing out main courses while forgetting to serve the appetizers entirely, serving the wrong size pizza, not bringing bread and if it did get served was essentially pulled out of the Costco bag without being oven heated as they always did before, serving coffee and then bringing the cannoli 10 minutes after, yes 10 minutes, what's the point? I can go on. The staff is also extremely worn out! They have been working there for a long time since it is a lucrative gig, but they're attitude is really poor now, essentially what happens when your there for the money rather than excel at your work. It seems very disorganized now and it is a shame. The owner walks around aimlessly rather than doing what he should be doing. He never asks how it went, rather prefers to just ignore everyone other than to say high of he sees you and recognizes you or if your a first timer likely will make it a point to welcome you. Once that is done, good luck expecting him to notice the unbelievable number of mistakes they make now with most orders. It is a shame since the food is good and I love the pizza, but feeling taken advantage of and not ensuring a long time client is satisfied all around is too bad. In addition, 8 just noticed you can reserve a table online but when my mother who is a 40+ year customer asked to reserve a table during the grand prix, owner refused! No matter how busy you might be, what is better than a sure reservation? I'll tell you what is better, some strangers who may spend more money given the town is full of visitors looking to eat and drink. This is a clear difference of that this place was versus what it is. Unfortunately, the people who he served that night were a one time deal!!!! Lastly, they have never had to advertise in 40 years, at least not over mass media, but lately they started to on 690 AM. This is certainly a sign of a drop in clientele which really is of no surprise. My suggestion, get organized, replace tired staff and go back to what made you great, good food AND PERSONALIZED ATTENTIVE...
Read moreI want to preface that this was ordered via DoorDash due to my inability to get to the restaurant physically at the time of the order. I can't wait to be able to eat at the actual restaurant. I've wanted to order here since I saw an article
Order: Calamari, Meat Lovers (Abbondanza) Pizza, Caesar Salad, Cavatelli Gira-gira, Caprese salad and 2 desserts (Ferrero Rocher cake and Oreo cheese cake)
The calamari is served with an aioli style sauce and a marinara. While not as tender as the Greek calamari from Marven's, this was a very tasty shared appetizer. Even delivered it was still crispy and delicious. Flavourful batter.
The pizza was very tasty. Crispy bacon and italian sausage slices on top of the cheese with some standard fare pizza pepperoni under the cheese. Delicious sauce and crust combined with the super crispy bacon pieces is what won me over. Been craving this pizza since our order and I'll need another one soon, maybe with a bit more vegetables this time though.
The caesar salad was romaine with bacon bits, bit of parmasean, some capers and croutons. The vinaigrette is obviously house made and very tasty. Lots of garlic and caper and/or anchovy flavours.
The caprese was lacking something. It wasn't bad just a bit plain. Probably the weakest item of my order, but they did not skimp on the large and generous pieces of bocconcini and mozzarella triangles. I think my issue was maybe the balsamic reduction or tomatoes at the time (spring so understandable) not being ready.
The cavatelli was amazing. The pasta is obviously fresh and then kinda of browned on the skillet so it gets crunchy in some areas. With a great creamy and spicy sauce with mushrooms. Really liked the flavour profile combined with the texture/mouth feel of this dish.
The desserts taste exactly how you would expect them to. I'm not sure if they're made in house or from a great bakery, but either way worth the money and great way to finish the meal.
Bread rolls and butter as well as extra parmasean was included for everyone as well.
Great meal from a great establishment. Looking forward to being there in...
