I've lived all my life in Little Italy and I've always told people how the restaurants here are over priced and very bad quality. Yesterday was a game changer.
When you first step in, right away you notice the atmosphere and the décor. You feel as if your part of family coming down for dinner, the plates and cup don't match but that doesn't matter because your here for the food and the company. You have a choice whether to be seated inside the restaurant, on the terrace or my personal favorite the "in between" where you still have the fresh air of being outside yet having the comfort and privacy of eating inside.
We started with a soup of the day which was a delicious potage with complex flavors you'd only expect were made only out of your mothers caring hands. The prosciutto and melon plate were perfect, thin slices of melon with quality prosciutto and a light arugula salad with a delicious dressing topped and real parmesan cheese. We then ordered a linguine bolognese and a linguini pescatore. Let me tell you, as an Italian who regularly eats my nonna's cooking which are recipes from Italy, these are honestly the most authentic, delicious and perfectly cooked pasta I've ever had outside of my nonna's cooking. You can see, feel and taste the care the owner puts into his food and that, is something you cant buy.
The owner comes by and also sings a beautiful range of Opera songs during the meals which just enhance the experience that much more. He also greets every customer at their table and has unrushed real conversations with them.
If you want to have an unforgettable Italian experience, I highly recommend to go to Il Bazzali. Hands down the best Italian restaurant in all of Montreal. 10/10...
Read moreWe had table de hôte, that abled to try several different things. First off we were served with the bread …and oh my how delicious already that was. Soft from the inside and perfectly crispy from the outside. Appetizers - soup and salad- both were great: fresh, flavorful and light. Then after that we had salmon tartare and deep fried cod. Delicious! Both were great. For main course we decided to have the Toscana Ravioli and cod fillet. Here we might have made a mistake as we were not really aware of how strong the tomato sauce can be. On the cod I didn’t like it too much, just too overpowering for me. The gnocchi was delicious though! Loved it. It was a bit roasted and made in a somewhat special way. On the ravioli I didn’t like the tomato sauce too much either, I felt like it did dominate too much. Ravioli itself was good. Then, lastly, for dessert we had chocolate mousse and the semifreddo. Mousse was definitely decadent as our server warned, perfect to finish the meal. Semifreddo I liked probably more, little less intense. In small amounts both were delightful. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. The chef gave a little performance as I was hoping so it made me especially glad, and later he found time to have a little chat with the people enjoying the food - including us!:) It was a lovely and memorable experience. I’m looking forward to introduce this place...
