Zab Café — Restaurant in Montreal

Great store. We are truly spoiled for choice with regards to roasters around beaubien metro!

I would say the roasts from Zab fall a little darker than usual in the specialty range, however this is not in an unpleasant way.

In fact it’s really re-opened my eyes towards the slightly more developed medium roast levels and I’ve had some very enjoyable shots at home.

I also appreciate that their bags contain reasonable tasting notes and nothing totally insane. If you’re tired of being told to taste some kind of fruit varietal you’ve never encountered before, or a specific chocolate bar that doesn’t contain any coffee, I think you’ll enjoy the buying experience here.

After seeing their beans around town I decided to pay a visit to their cafe. Not disappointed - the service was great, they had an interesting selection of espresso dialled in, and their staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. A good feature: they have coffee (in bulk) available for purchase and you can bring your own container or bag and purchase however much you need. They have several of their coffee varieties available for purchase in bulk or pre-packaged, along with a good selection of coffee brewing equipment. Our business in Canmore, AB (Take A Hike Market) has had the pleasure of doing business with Zab for a few years now. The product is phenomenal and consistently noted as one of the best coffees in the Bow Valley but the coffee obsessed Aussies!
