Fairmount Bagel truly lives up to its legendary status. The combination of perfectly made bagels, locally sourced cream cheese, and smoked salmon from Quebec made my delicious food creations shine. If you haven’t tried them yet, it is a must-visit for anyone in Montreal – whether you’re enjoying them traditionally or experimenting with new recipes! Video currently posted on Tik Tok and Instagram @Foxyappetite In depth review: As a food blogger, I couldn’t resist celebrating National Bagels and Lox Day with some of Montreal’s best from Fairmount Bagel. Their bagels are iconic, chewy, and baked to perfection in a wood-fired oven, making them the perfect base for creative recipes. I made two unique bagel creations using their fresh, local ingredients: 1. Cranberry Delight Bagel I started with their cranberry bagel for a subtle sweetness, paired with a creamy goat cheese spread, topped with smoked salmon, caramelized onions, and arugula. A drizzle of balsamic reduction added a perfect balance of sweet and savory. The fresh Quebec smoked salmon was the highlight, bringing everything together beautifully. 2. Lox Caprese Bagel For something lighter and more colorful and fun, I used one of there limited edition Canada bagels, spread with Canadian cream cheese, and topped with smoked salmon, fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and a drizzle of olive oil. I finished it with salt, pepper, and fresh basil (or basil pesto for an extra kick). The result was a fresh, Mediterranean-inspired bite that was light and flavorful. Fairmount Bagel delivers on all fronts. The bagels are simply some of the best you’ll find in Montreal, and the ability to customize with local products like cream cheese and smoked salmon makes for a top-tier meal. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, it’s a must-visit for anyone wanting to try authentic Montreal bagels. The service is friendly, and the nostalgic atmosphere adds to the charm of the place. #FairmountBagel #MontrealEats #NationalBagelsAndLoxDay #SupportLocal

I stopped in as my travel companion wanted to bring bagels home from our visit to Montreal. It was busy on a beautiful Sunday morning, and there was a small lineup going up the ramp to the front door. A five (or so) minute wait later, we got to the front of the line to place our orders. I chose a dozen all-dressed (everything) and a dozen garlic. They were quickly bagged up and we were on our way. The garlic is very strong (their description says pungent, and they're not wrong) on the garlic bagels and it will linger with you for hours. If you love garlic, these are for you. Personally, next time I would go with the onion bagels instead. I love sesame, my family does not like the overwhelming amount of sesame seeds on the sesame bagels. Onion would be my compromise as there's a mixture of onion and sesame. The all-dressed bagels are well balanced, having a mix of sesame seeds, poppy seeds, caraway seeds, onion, garlic and a bit of salt. The best of, ahem, everything.... These were a home run in my house. The bagels have a dense texture and a satisfying chew to them, they're unique to the area and definitely worth a try, especially if you've only ever experienced more 'bready', bun-like bagels available across the country.

Fairmount Bagel offers the best bagels I have ever tasted! During my visit, I had the chance to try a variety of flavors, including sesame, blueberry, cinnamon, raisin, and garlic. Each bagel was unique, fresh, and full of flavor, leaving me thoroughly impressed. The quality and authenticity of their bagels truly set them apart from any others I’ve tried. The store is open 24/7, which is incredibly convenient. However, be prepared to wait in line during busy hours. I had to wait outside for a few minutes before placing my order, but the experience was well worth it. The service was efficient, and the bagels were still warm and fresh when I received them. Despite being a renowned and iconic spot, the prices were surprisingly affordable. I even brought some bagels back to Toronto, and they remained delicious for the first couple of days. I’d recommend finishing them within two days for the best taste and texture, as they can become harder when reheated after the third day. That said, this minor detail doesn’t detract from how amazing these bagels are. Fairmount Bagel is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates top-quality, authentic bagels. I’ll definitely be returning on my next trip!

I am not a bagel person but when I went to Montreal, I know I gotta try their bagel. I was hungry after walking and decided that day was the day I will eat a carb full meal! I decided to go to Fairmount Bagel. There a long line leading to this ordinary looking building. Also, I found out that they don’t serve bagel sandwiches so I was disappointed. I almost gave up but the guy in front of me said I'm in the right place. I'm glad I listened. I asked the guy at the counter if he could slice 1 bagel for me, he said no. But he offered to give me a knife. So I decided to buy 1 bagel (sesame seeds, his suggestion) and one of their special spread and sat in a bench outside. I also found out that he gave me a small cream cheese (how thoughtful). I was in love (with the bagel) on my first bite! My mouth is watering while doing this review. The bagel was warm with a hint of sweetness and saltiness, soft inside but firm and toasty outside. I am a convert! I like bagel now. My regret is I should have brought some home. Now back in Vancouver and craving their bagel. I also tired other bagel shops but I swear Fairmount bagel is the best.

Having grown up in Ville St Laurent, I frequented Fairmount Bagels often. Now that I've moved away to California, where I can only get the likes of Noah's or Costco bagels - which to a long time Montrealer like yours truly, that's nothing more than a bunch of dough baked in the shape of a donut! That's NOT bagels, Fairmount Bagels which has been around for more than a century - how many restaurants can make similar claims, same recipes at the same tiny hut on Fairmont Avenue at Blvd St-Laurent still unable to meet daily demands of its customers as the stacked up bagels all the way to the ceiling can attest. I bought a dozen the first week at St Viateur (because my sister is busy and can't drive me to Fairmount), so I settled & their bagels - though still Montreal-style & made similarly, they were absolutely horrible. When it comes to bagels, Montreal or New York, there's only one - FAIRMOUNT Bagels - ask anyone who used to live in Montreal and moved away what they want when someone is visiting them from Montreal? YES, can you bring me FAIRMOUNT Bagels!!!‼️‼️‼️👅👅👅👅🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

There was a short wait but then once inside I didn’t expect: only to go, pay in cash or Canadian debit, you have to buy a whole separate cream cheese if you want it so we bought one and asked for knives. They don’t put it on for you. We found outside seating then it was a little awkward cutting the bagels and spreading it on without a surface but not a major problem. Now here is where I might get some hate but it’s personal preference: it’s a sweet taste and not what I consider a bagel of choice. However it wasn’t stale, just the right amount of crunchiness on the outside while soft in the middle. Im glad I tried it as it’s a different style but just not for me.
