By far, the most ridiculous customer service experience I have had in recent memory.
A friend ordered 50 Alfajores 3 days before his wedding for a 10am pickup on a Friday. We had a 4 hour drive to his wedding.
Show up at 10, NOTHING is ready and she knows exactly who we are and it wouldn't be ready and tells us there was a "miscommunication". I speak to who I assume is the owner who tells me he actually was in the hospital with a migraine (different stories after just 2 minutes).
I am assured they will be ready for 12 (Waitress said for sure they would be) which sucks since we had non refundable plans for 3pm before the wedding.
Here is where things get REALLY special. I call another chilean place I won't name nearby. They have 25 Alfajores and can't make anymore. I mention to him what's going on with Barros Luco.
An hour goes by, we are back at 12 and guess what? Only 25 Alfajores are available (coincidence?) I call back the other Chilean place and none are left (coincidence)? Of course I am now told they have no idea when the others will be coming.
I have no proof of any of this happening but it seems oddly convenient. I don't get why I couldnt just be told "sorry we messed up and won't have anything for you" and move on with my day. Instead I was dragged around to make a few bucks? I even asked if they order them from else where and I was told "no we fill them here so you can't get them from the other place".
The older woman there was nice and gave me a discount but sadly, I just can't excuse the fact you made me waste my entire day basically and blow off my plans which I of course couldnt get a refund on AND made me show up to an event with barely any time to get ready. Above all else, you clearly...
Read moreI’ve been going here for over 15 years. My high school was right next to it and having lunch here with friends, on the rare occasions that we bought food, was an absolute treat. Although I’ve tried several items on their menu, it is really the barros luco ‘steak’ sandwich that is amazing! They are quite small so I always order 2. Really tender and delicious. I also like their cheese empanada which is really soft and flaky and crispy all at the same time. I am not really a fan of their sweets but I’d recommend this place to anyone from anywhere in the world just for their sandwich. I have taken several friends here and every single one of them has loved it! The owners and staff are also really kind and sweet. It’s always pleasant seeing them! The interior has a special vibe for me. In terms of appearance, it is normal but something about the vibe is really pleasant. Time seems to slow down and you even feel like you’ve almost gone back in time. Really...
Read moreMy favourite Latin American place to eat in Montreal. A go to spot that I frequented more than a couple times already. The empanadas are my favourite of the places I've tried. Love the envelope fold of the Chilean empanada. The beef empanada is a must get here - really deep flavour, but I would stay away from the spinach cheese one as the filling tasted soggy and underseasoned. The Barros luco sandwich is also incredible and the spicy dipping sauce it came with further elevated it Service could be much better but the food...
