Revised Review* (Overall 4.3/5 for food)

After having gone four times now, I can safely highly recommend Homer's. After experiencing more of what they offer, I can attest to them being consistently great!

The inviting and friendly service is genuine and comforting. The atmosphere remains fun and representative of the Simpsons.

After indulging into more of their special donuts, I am very happy with their range. Both versions of the cheese cake donuts have become my favorite as they have great texture and balance. Creamy, light, and flavorful. The Creme Brulee has also become a favorite of mine, for it's diverse texture, rich filling, and great taste. The dough for every donut is spot in!

Well done and happy to come back!

Depreciated Review: Went today and there's a huge line since it opened recently. I would suggest waiting for the hype to die down. The location is small and there are a lot of hard workers. The atmosphere is great and service is friendly.

The donuts themselves are fine (where my 3 stars comes from), they are made with good quality ingredients, have a nice texture, and are moist. Where it falls short is the flavor for the more exciting looking donuts. Flavors like Reese or Lotus would appear to have more filling but it's more of a topping donut. My current favorite is the Cereal with Fruity Pebbles, as it's a texture powerhouse (adds nice crunch). I feel their simpler donuts will shine here since the soft texture and moistness are the star. The only caveat of the simple donuts (Simpsons, Cereal, and Cookie Monster) is the frosting tastes the same for the most part.

I'll go back once it settles down more, looking forward to the growth...

If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would. I've had a series of doughnut related mishaps the past few months on my journey for good doughnuts, and I almost gave up when this place opened, and I decided to give them a try. They did NOT disappoint.

The doughnuts were fresh, they didn't have any of that rancid oil flavour that I've begun associating with doughnuts after trying so many bad ones from other places. They weren't too sweet, just the perfect amount of sweetness, and they're so fresh! The dough is soft and bouncy, and the flavours...so so good.

I love apple fritters, and the apple doughnut from this shop is absolutely delicious, it have whole slices of apple! I was nibbling on them while I was talking with my mom and when I got to the whole apple slice, we both let out loud gasps. Ecstatic!

I also got a creme brulee doughnuts, which was also delicious...crunchy top, had that delicious almost toasted marshmallow flavour...the inside had a thick cream, like a Boston cream doughnut.

The last doughnut I got was the cookie monster doughnut, and even though it was so simple (just a variation of an iced doughnut), it was absolutely delicious. I regret not buying more!! This shop has become my new place to go if I'm craving doughnuts, and I still can't believe how delicious they were.

I know there are some negative reviews, but new businesses are always bound to have some kinks to work through. By now, they've certainly worked through them, and these doughnuts to not...

As incredibly mouthwatering and delectable that those donuts look in that glass display next to the register as you’re queued up waiting to order, I can’t lie and say that it was as satisfying as I had expected. These donuts look good, but they are shockingly light and, well, kind of bland. It wouldn’t have been a problem if there was a counter-taste to them, but there isn’t. i ordered two Nutella donuts, a classic homer one, and a blueberry cheesecake one I believe. as a huge Nutella lover, this was definitely one of the sadder Nutella donuts I’ve had. It’s okay, but the substance just wasn’t there. There wasn’t that drooling Nutella that would leak and smother me after I take a bite, but instead icing powder littered all over. The rest of them were the same, the same dough-ey taste with a bunch of icing powder. There was like a teaspoon of flavour that, in conjunction with the donut which was already quite flavourless to begin with, made the entire experience really bland. The flavours they come in are like a shell of what it should be. It should definitely be way sweeter or heavier of a taste, if that makes sense, and the donuts should have more to it as well! And let’s be real, you’re having a donut to indulge in a sweet treat, not to cut loose on calories. I want a donut that’ll inflict my teeth with cavities and diagnose me with conditions right after I eat it. I crave it!!!!!!!!! The potential was definitely here but it...

Homer's donut place. The shop has nice decorations in theme of Simpsons with bright and vibrant colors. So the style is there and got me super excited to go in. I bought cookie monster, the simpsons donut, KitKat one and Barbe and babe (not sure if that is the correct name but anyway). If you are into super sweet then cookie monster and "the Barbe and babe" is great option for you. For me they were a bit too sweet. My favorite from these 4 was KitKat surprisingly, it wasn't too sweet and the topping/glazing didn't over power donut, the dough was the best dough that I have had this side of the world (sorry Krispycream you are too sweet), the Simpson donut is happy medium between the KitKat and the 2 other sweeter ones. The costumer service sort of ruined my experience there. I was super excited to go in and get some donuts but I got faced with a lady who was pretty rude and looked like she hated her life there. I actually ordered take away and when I got home I was still mad that I even went there because how the lady acted but thank God the taste of donuts brought a smile back on my face. So my take of this is I will get some more tasty donuts from here but I won't bother to go in to get bad service. Btw the Duff soda drink was pretty tasty as well. And the donuts in the picture are after my 45min bike ride 😅

When I arrived at 10:20 this morning, there were already 10 people lining up outside the door (and another 5-6 inside). Having just tried a couple more, I can see why. Someone in line told me she drove in from West Island for them. I'll label these donuts in my menu photo, but just a quick review of the ones we've just tried. The crème brulée (yellow cream in middle) is reminiscent of Boston cream custard; the Nutella (sugar dusted with hazelnut cream center) is perfectly rich. Despite the massive size, the dough was perfectly cooked to its sublime pillowy softness, and the glaze/fillings were just the right amount of sweetness. I'm letting a couple of them sit overnight to test how the dough will fare the next day. Also, we just stuffed our faces with brunch an hour ago and have no room to plow through the rest until later. And with good reason: these fat babies are 10cm diameter, so almost double the size of Krispy Kreme donuts at a marginally higher price ($2 each for originals, $2.75 for 'Homer's faves'). Judging by the quality, size, price, and variety, you'll have a tough time contesting that Homer's Donuts is hands-down the best-bang-for-buck donut shop in Montreal. Thanks for setting up shop in NDG!
