We called for a large take out order and were told it would be ready in an hour...seemed a bit long but we decided to see if it would be worth the wait since we have heard wonderful things about this restaurant When my brother went to pick it up (exactly one hour later) he was told it was not ready and to come back in an hour! They seemed to have not prepared the order or even knew about it. Finally they found it and started running around and yelling in the kitchen. Note that this was a 200$ order, normally a restaurant would take care to handle an order like this properly.
The restaurant was totally empty and they were very busy handing off orders to the delivery app drivers. When my brother told me what was going on I called and they lied and kept saying "its ready, it's ready" until I said "please stop lying, we both know it's not ready". Finally he just said "sorry"...it felt like a bad comedy. I told them that we ordered directly from the restaurant to support them and avoid paying a massive commission to uber. I realize now that the prices are much higher on the delivery apps, so I guess they don't care and don't really value their customers who try to support local businesses during these difficult times. They just raise their already high prices and expect customers to pay 30% more than menu prices plus service and delivery fees plus driver tip.
The food was ready after 25 more minutes, so total 85 minutes wait time. It was very good but quite bland. They refused to make a butter chicken spicy because "it's always a mild dish". Definitely targeting the older white person market. The menu is small, I was surprised that they did not have classics like paneer pakora, dal makhani, shrimp or paneer jalfrezi...pretty disappointing.
They didn't give even a small discount or appeasement for completely forgetting our order.
We won't be back. There are many delicious restaurants in the city who appreciate their customers and are not slaves to the delivery...
Read moreMy preferred Indian restaurant in the area. Excellent food and friendly service. You may have to wait a while if it's busy. They know my face, what I order, what I drink and have one of my daughter's hand drawn pictures on their wall. They really know how to make you feel welcome. They've got excellent dishes for the meek (Korma/Kashmir chicken Tonka masala and butter chicken/shrimp), reasonably spicy dishes for those braver; chicken jal frezzi is my favorite dish there, but they've got a variety of good spicy dishes with chicken, beef or lamb. My mom loves their sag aloo vegetarian dish, but the sag pander is a lovely cheese dish and they have a cauliflower one that's really nice too. I've taken to ordering without a menu, but it's worth exploring their variety. A nice selection of Indian beers (the darker taj Mahal us my fav) and don't forget deserts to round it out. The price is solidly in the appropriate range for the quality and service.
Parking is a bit of a nuisance on sherbrooke, but if you don't mind a small walk, you can park on a residential side street a block away usually.
I've gone with just a few people, but it's best with a large crowd so you can order a ton and share. Variety and doggy-bagged Indian...
Read moreWe reserved for 5h pm: doors were locked until 5h15PM. We sat inside, there was actually 4 flies near the window that we had to kill. Food is way too sweet: no spices : we ordered the butter chicken and the lamb which tasted too much of the coconut milk. Chotpoti tasted like chick peas, onions n the "sauce" but all separated. Feels it did not have time to marinated. They were out of Lassi and that different kind of bread. The naan bread were soggy, not fresh despite we were the only costumers there. Prices are above your normal indian restaurents prices ( which ranges from 10-13$) they are more expensive ( more liek 15$ and above). Would NOT GO BACK THERE for sanitary reasons and...
