I am Pho (West Island) — Restaurant in Montreal

My rating is based on a delivery order, please keep that in mind. I tried the well done beef soup and an order of imperial rolls.

Beef soup pros: Large portion Lots of meat Lots of noodles Decent tasting broth

Beef soup cons: Not enough cilantro Very little vegetation of any kind in the dish Despite being tasty, the broth was very oily A lot of liquid leaked in the to go containers and made the delivery bag fall apart during transport

Imperial roll pros: Good size Lots of filling Nice flavour

Imperial roll cons: Container was placed in delivery bag upside down and the sauce spilled inside, making the rolls very damp and they lost all their crispiness A bit expensive for only two rolls

Some of the issues I experienced would definitely be avoided by eating at the restaurant instead of ordering delivery but the soup really could use more cilantro and more green onion. It is very plain and boring looking and I can't even taste the cilantro because there is so little added to the soup. The basil was also sent in a separate bag and even though I added it, the broth was no longer hot enough to aromatize the herbs so it only tastes or smells when I bite the whole leaf (leaves are sent whole instead of chopped or sliced, which doesn't help either). The pho place is alright and indifferent for me I find it a little bit odd that it’s far but here is my full review of the place.

Positives:

1. Food was decent and good. A little bit warm and hot but I prefer hot.

2. The place is a nice vibe. Has a nice sort of pho place feel.

3. Prices are fairly reasonable and hope it stays that way.

4. Service was good and the waiter was nice and I think that was the owner or manager was nice as well.

One of the waiters was talking a lot to a female student while She was working or studying then stayed for a bit.

Cons:

1. The flush on some of the bathrooms were not working. So that’s a bit odd. Washroom was pretty clean although I can see improvements.

2. Food needs to be more hot and not warmish.

3. They need the space to be more decorative and have a better feel to it.

4. You need to pay for the meal upfront instead of the waiter assisting you. Kind of odd.

5. I did not see a lot of cleaning nor sweeping nor Picking up dishes after when we still left. So that is a bit of a let down.

Conclusion: I’m indifferent about Pho West Island and I may come back here again if the place improved in terms of the bathrooms Control of the food and the improved service.

They need lots of improvement. Maybe it is a new restaurant, it does not make ready for lots of things. 1， Food portion is not enough, No.7 is ok, Do not order No. 15, it more less, you asked, their reply it is the standard portion😅. Poor quality Plastic water cup, I can feel the plastic taste, and have a question to myself: can these cup be put into to the dishwasher to sterilize by high temperature? 3, the service is fine, but the waitress alway left the table unclean, I saw they do not clean the table and begin to treat new clients. bean sprouts is not Fresh, half portion lemon as their saying “Standard “😉. they replaces oyster oil to hoisin sauce, maybe they think it is the same taste, but actually, it is Not. 5.They add Uber eat or other apps, it keep them so busy and no time to take care of the clients who come to eat in restaurant, maybe it is better to order on line. Price is good, compared with others, it is the standard price.

All in all, they need do more work to make it better. I will come after 6 months, hope they are good at time....
