I first stumbled into Kouzina Niata during a food tour with Local Montreal Food Tours and immediately felt like I’d found something special. The phyllo was flaky, the vibe was cozy, and everything had that homemade feel that just sticks with you. Fast forward to my second visit, this time as a plus one for my friend Sarah’s tasting, and it honestly made me love the place even more. Tucked in Mile End, Kouzina is a warm little family-run Greek shop that somehow feels like it’s been around forever (even though it’s only three years old). You come in for a bite, and next thing you know, you’re eyeing the freezer section like you’re planning meals for the whole week. They make their phyllo fresh in-house, and you can taste it. Crispy edges, buttery layers, soft centers… just everything you want in a savory pie. They also sell frozen versions to take home, along with olive oil, teas, dips, spreads, pantry goodies, and desserts. Basically, Greek comfort in a corner shop. And yes, I definitely took a mirror selfie in their big beautiful window mirror. How could I not? ✨ Here’s what I loved most: • Montrealopita (smoked meat pie) – my top pick. Local twist, traditional feel, rich and flavorful. • Kotopita (chicken & bacon) – came in second. So comforting and filling. • Spanakopita – a classic done well. Light, fresh, and not too salty. • Bougatsa – vanilla custard wrapped in phyllo, somehow cozy and delicate at the same time. • Freddo Cappuccino – medium sweet, super smooth. You know that tragic little moment when you stir it and ruin the masterpiece? Worth it. • Mango & Coconut Iced Tea – refreshing with a tropical vibe. Not too sweet, just enough. I’ve been lucky enough to visit Santorini before, and tasting these pies brought me right back to those warm afternoons with sea breeze, flaky pastries, and that slow, joyful pace of life. It’s amazing when a bite of food can do that. This visit was part of a comped tasting, but sharing my honest thoughts above. 🫶🏽 ✨ I spotlight my favorite local gems on TikTok @foxy.appetite and IG @foxyappetite Come hang out!

Great little place! Authentic Greek items all made in house and the aroma when you walk in smells just like Giagia’s kitchen. We came in to get their homemade tzatziki that is filled with fresh cucumber, dill and garlic and is thick and creamy and not watered down. I couldn’t help myself and got a slice of the spinach and chicken pie. The crust is flaky, buttery and just perfect and the filling is packed with flavor and just feels so warm and cozy. If you want a quick bite and a taste of Greece then do yourself a favor and stop into this place…. Memorable.

My girlfriend and I first visited this place today, we walk 50 miles every week around Montreal to discover new places and this one just took soot #1 of the year! When entering, one of the staff made us taste something that was coming fresh out of the oven, it was delicious... we bought 3 of the available deserts and let me tell you something: The Baklava Cheese Cake is one of the best things I've eaten in my life... Its insane! Overall: AMAZING Service: AMAZING Food: AMAZING We will be back.

I recently stumbled upon this gem of a spot in Montreal and let me tell you, it has quickly become my favorite! My girlfriend and I have been exploring the city on foot, and this place has earned the title of our #1 discovery this year. The moment we walked in, the welcoming staff offered us a taste of something fresh out of the oven, and it was absolutely scrumptious. We couldn't resist trying three different desserts, and boy, did they impress!

The Baklava Cheesecake, in particular, was out of this world! I'm not exaggerating when I say it's one of the best things I've ever tasted. The combination of flavors and textures was simply divine. The other desserts we tried were equally amazing, and it's clear that this place takes pride in their culinary creations.

In summary, this cozy spot in Montreal has it all: incredible food, outstanding service, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. I can't wait to return and try even more of their delicious offerings. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and check it out - I guarantee you won't be...

My wife and I were visiting from Toronto recently, we had just had brunch and taking a casual walk through some cute areas in Montreal. What made us stop at this beautiful cafe, was the smell of familiar spices and herbs, intoxicating! We had to stop in and find out more! I felt like a child walking into grandmas house in Greece with her constantly in the kitchen wanting to feed me. We were greeted promptly and warmly, (typical Greek nature). After a brief and detailed walk through their offerings I had a grin from ear to ear! I asked to see the chef and I had to congratulate him and his team for bringing me to such nostalgic time of my life! Although we only purchased a couple drinks that day we promised to come back and visit them before we headed home. As promised we went back to the cafe before we left for home again, we purchased two Mousaka, two Pastichio, two Spanakopita and several drinks imported from Greece, our only regret is that we didn’t get more!! It’s worth the drive from Toronto! BRAVO! (Can we arrange...
