A breakfast place that can't get you two eggs with bacon and do it right is not worth visiting.
The bacon was limp and not cooked properly.
The butter on the toast was not completely melted, so obviously they put it on when the toast had started to cool.
The potatoes were ordinary at best, probably made from frozen. The seasoning consisted of salt, too much of it IMO, and nothing else.
I asked for my sunnyside up eggs to be cooked to a medium yoke, so that the yoke is not completely ruuny. But was told it's not possible! I said you just have to cook it for a minute or 2 longer, but apparently the kitchen staff don't know how/want to do this, and the place was barely a quarter full so taking a bit longer on a couple of eggs shouldn't have been a problem)
Perhaps you could argue I am too demanding about the eggs and potatoes! But, what about the bacon and the toast, surely a place that is billed as a breakfast spot (closes at 3pm) should be able to give you...
Read moreKeeping in mind that this is from a huge fan of Brunches: The customer service was impecable! That's pretty much where the positive ends for me and why I gave it an extra star. The food was bland and rather generic (though I will give them this: the names of the dishes are rather original), you can get pretty much the same kind of over salty, fast-food style brunch in a bunch of less expensive places (I can think of Chez Cora and Eggspectations off the top of my head). I would like to emphasize the "you can find less expensive" bit. For 60-70$ for two I'd much prefer to go to a place offering fresh ingredients or one of a kind experiences than a generic oeuf benedictine and potato/egg mash meal. First time I didn't finish my meal: the hollandaise sauce was too salty overly bright colored. I'm a bene fan so this killed it for me. Which is too bad because the staff was amazing. If the meal was 40 something for two I might have gone back but...
Read moreI went there to take a brunch and was not disappointed. The smoothie and the chocolate milkshake where good though a little expensive (~5$ each). When it comes to the food, we had 3crepes with nutella for my girlfriend (~10$ + 3$) and the extra nutella was not a joke. I was a huge portion and she didn't managed to finish it. Crepes were good too and she was delighted. I had the "Mega" eggs, which is 2 eggs, 2 golden bread, 2 sausages, potatoes, and bacon. I took the 13$ one (can come with a fruit cocktail for 16$) and it was huge. Flavors were really nice (the bacon was a little bit to crispy for me but I didn't ask for anything particular) and it filled my stomach just as I wanted. We had a cup of bread with that but couldn't touch it because our plates were too huge. I think it's a nice place, waitresses were smiling and quick to respond, but maybe a little too pricey for...
