Tl;Dr - Upgrade your Benedict to a French toast base instead of English muffin for only $5, thank me later

Just going to start off with, everything we ordered tasted amazing. Came here back in November 2023.

We literally took 15 minutes going through the menu because it was so hard to decide what to order, everything looked amazing and sounded amazing.

We decided on trying the avocado hummus with braised lamb and pomegranate seeds, a mushroom Benedict, and some pancakes. The hardest thing to decide was which 3 dishes to get, because we are not from Montreal and won't be coming back often. So we wanted to try as much as possible. Luckily, they have an option to switch out the English muffin and upgrade it to French toast for only $5. And yes, I definitely recommend ALWAYS doing that. I don't even like hummus, that dish was supposed to be primarily hers. But she just kept eating the French toast mushroom Benedict, and I ended up having most of the hummus, which was really good, especially for someone who doesn't like hummus. We also love how their potatoes aren't fried. Like 100% of all brunch places in Toronto does fried potatoes, and pretty poorly at that. It was so refreshing to have something different.

Every time we go back to Montreal, or even pass by Montreal, this will definitely be a stop we...

Out of town/country foodie review - The experience begins with a line outside; there’s no formal check-in, as the host comes out to take names and party sizes. We arrived on a Sunday around 10:30 AM and were seated by 10:55 AM, which felt like a reasonable wait.

However, I was disappointed by the food and lack of communication regarding new menu items. The menu clearly advertised fresh additions, yet our server didn’t mention any of them until we were actively placing our orders. This happened twice: first with the iced strawberry matcha during the drink order, and again with the “Bobby Explores Japan” dish when ordering food. In my opinion, new offerings, or lack thereof in this case, should be highlighted at the start of the dining experience, not as an afterthought. We waited roughly 45 minutes to receive our 2 items: the Huevos Rancheros and the Classic Eggs (eggs, meat, and potatoes). I asked for soft scrambled and it came out hard.

As for the food, it was fine, but nothing particularly memorable or unique. We ordered the vanilla iced matcha, but it didn’t live up to expectations. The vanilla and sugar were simply dusted on the rim, and the matcha itself was noticeably watered down, lacking the rich flavor and depth we...

I visited L’avenue in Montreal with my cousin, and we had a great time! I went for the Los Cabo’s Chicken Waffle, and it was absolutely delicious. The dish features a corn waffle topped with crispy fried chicken, shallots, cheddar cheese, guacamole, sriracha sauce, and maple syrup. The combination of flavors was spot on—savory, spicy, and sweet, all in one bite.

The corn waffle was light and crispy, the chicken was perfectly juicy, and the shallots and cheddar added a nice savory punch. The guacamole balanced the heat from the sriracha, and the maple syrup brought everything together with a touch of sweetness. It was filling but not too heavy, and every bite was a little bit different, which kept it interesting.

My cousin, on the other hand, had the Indecisive Meal, which was a fun concept—basically a bit of everything classic breakfast food. He enjoyed it.

The vibe at Lavenue was cozy, and the service was friendly, making it the perfect spot for a casual brunch. The prices are on the higher side for brunch, but the quality and creativity make it worth it. If you’re in Montreal and want something unique, definitely try the Los Cabo’s Chicken Waffle!

We went to L’Avenue and tried four dishes. Most of the food was really good, but the overall experience wasn’t great. We waited in line for over an hour, and even after getting a table, it took more than 45 minutes for the food to arrive. Service was super slow, maybe because it was just a busy day, but it definitely made the visit frustrating. The Steak and Eggs were easily the best thing on the table. The eggs were perfectly runny, the ribeye was tender, and the hollandaise sauce was rich and flavorful. Bobby Does Dallas was also very good. The eggs were fluffy, the beef was juicy, and the sweet caramelized onions really stood out. We also had the Red Shakshuka. The flavor was nice, and the labneh and feta added a creamy touch. It came with naan bread at first, which didn’t really go well with the dish, but we got it with baguette instead and that worked much better. Honestly, pita would’ve been the perfect match. The Strawberry Nocciolata looked amazing and had lots of toppings, but the taste was just okay. Not bad, but definitely not something I’d rush to order again. Overall, the food was mostly great but the service and wait time were rough. If you go, make sure you’re not in a hurry.
