A lot of small things that added up to a very good first visit for me. First off, a good way of making people feel welcome is by simply making it easier for everyone to get inside. A ramp is appreciated by people like me who are even just a bit mobility impaired, and I saw some older folks using the button to open the door.

But the food! It was excellent, with lots of little touches that took things to the next level. A reminder that things don’t have to be heavy-handed to be good. In fact, subtlety can be a bit of a relief.

Very pleased with my Japanese pancakes, which had lots of fruit and reminded me of the sweet, biscuit-y shortcakes I made with my mom as a kid. A little touch of orange somewhere in the dish—maybe in the whipped cream? London Fog was notably delicious, not too sweet, with just a bit of vanilla in the foam to take it to the next level.

My compatriot’s eggs and bacon were good, too, in both big and small ways—home fries delicious and well-seasoned (not just deep-fried), toast used a good bread, bacon was good quality and cooked well…I mean, how often is your little side of mayo so tasty that you feel compelled to offer someone else a taste?

Brunch appears to be available on Saturday and Sundays, with breakfast until 11am other days. I will definitely be back, and just not for morning fare, however. They appear to have a...

Service was good, but the food was a miss for me. 😅

First with the positives, I thought my coffee was alright. I liked it fine. 🙂

I got a burger, the patty was a little overcooked and dry. For the price it's a bit disappointing. I think it would've been pretty good otherwise. But it just wasn't up to par.

The mayo was really salty for some reason. 😅 Idk if it's just me, but it tasted at least twice as salty as regular mayo to me. (I used a little to-go MAG branded mayo packet I had laying around in the fridge to dip the fries instead of the one that came with. It's just so salty. 😅)

I find the fries a bit on the saltier side for my liking too, but that's just me. They were actually pretty good otherwise! I like the texture.

Overall not impressed, but maybe I just got unlucky today. Anyways, no shade towards anyone. Thanks for...

I’ve visited this lovely cafe a few times to grab a coffee and a pastel de nata after leaving the gym but I just stopped in for brunch on their beautiful patio (heated!) and this has moved up in my ranks of Verdun cafes.

I had the toast Beyrouth with a flat white (all coffees were $2 that Saturday afternoon for some reason - I wasn’t complaining hehe) and it was so beautiful and delicious. It was the perfect amount of food since I wasn’t super hungry so if you are craving more I’d order an additional dish or one of their grilled cheeses.

I grabbed a slice of their pumpkin cardamom tart to enjoy at home and it was so flavorful - highly recommend their deserts and pastries.

Super excited to come back and try more of their menu, especially during...

They advised us that it’ll take a bit longer to prepare, so it was all good for the wait. We had the Matcha Latte, the onion soup, the Beef Hamburger and the La Base New York. All of the foods were wonderful. The La Base New York is my ultimate recommendation. It’s crunchy, tastes just right, and hits the spot. The Beef Hamburger came with a side salad, the sauce is very well done. Not sure what did they put in the sauces, they all taste wayyyyy tooo gooddddd! The matcha latte however, I would suggest to ask for less milk, more matcha because it is quite bland if you drink cold. The gentleman who served us is very gentle, friendly but not overly energetic so it was a very calm and comfortable experience.
