I experienced micro aggressions at this restaurant. I was told that I don’t act and sound like people from here. The waiter, I believed it is the same waiter over years as I checked the commenting section. Even though it seems like he is in favour for many clients, HE IS NOT at all! He is fake nice and fake polite. I don’t want to drop a big statement here… i will let you guys decide.
Augment one: A delivery person walked into the restaurant, and he asked the waiter how long it would take for the order. He wasn’t meant to rush anyone in the restaurant. He just wanted to have a precise time. ( the restaurant was quite dead tbh) The waiter went irritated after the follow up question, he went by “ if you want the order, then wait! Or you leave the restaurant and cancel the order!!!” with annoyed tone. Was this really necessary? He was not very respectful with other delivery guys either. It seems like he looks down at them..:
Augment 2: I had a chitchat with the waiter(him/he) I told him I have an international background, but I have lived in Montreal for long enough though. He added on, “that’s why you are guys are so different from people here” He even called me “strange” after I asked for more...
Read moreAlthough it’s my second time there, I haven’t given it a proper review yet. The first time I went there, the waiter was super welcoming and chill. The vibe I got from the place was very traditional Koreanesque as well as western so the mix of both really set the tone for my expectations and boy oh boy they did not disappoint. The takoyaki is super flavourful and it bursts in your mouth leaving you with a nice and soft piece of seafood to chew on. The jajjangmyeon (black bean noodles) was spectacular. The sweet yet salty combination it has is what makes it super unique. The chicken and fries combo was a thing of beauty. Although searing hot when chewing into it, it doesn’t stop the flavour from making your tastebuds feel like they’re in heaven. The Budae jjigae (Korean army stew) was super duper good the both times I got it. Since I’m not Korean, I’m not used to eating refreshments such as cucumbers and pickled radishes when finishing a bite. So when I got to do it, I legit felt so good because it’s like a new experience every time you take a bite of your food. Overall, the service and food were great and hence the reason why this restaurant deserves, according to me,...
Read moreWent eating there because it was the other Korean restaurant in the hood, my colleagues were craving Korean food and the Tastet site gave a shill "hypebeast" review on their site (I'll never trust tastet ever again lol).
While the service was impeccable (great hard working host!) and the ambiance quite pleasant (we had a great time dining there), the quality of the food was only fair, leaning on average. Their pork belly bbq though was a highlight.
Perhaps the high rent of the area prevents the restaurant from providing more protein or higher quality ingredients in their dishes despite the higher than average prices for Korean food of this average quality. Most dishes had a very low amount of protein for the price.
Also, their kitchen might have been on the small side since the waiting time for the little food we got is longer than expected.
I wouldn't return however, nor do I find this place recommendable sadly.
A 3/5 star not to hurt the business but I'd rate this...
