La Retenue — Restaurant in Montreal

There are no camera in the parking and one of the barmaid got harassed there. Still redoing the stairs is more important than the safety of the staffs. I wonder why it is not yet important for them.

It smells bad in their office and it is disgusting. Smells like chemicals. The owner and the barman smoke inside after working hours and it smells bad at 8 in the morning. Like no respect for those who don’t smoke.

When there is no event downstairs the owner and the staff on a break smokes downstairs because it is « his bar ». Sometimes there are people upstairs and they still do it.

Toilettes are dirty especially downstairs. Furthermore they will never be able to respect the two meters of distances because it is so tight.

The prices are good though.

Some employee works 48 h none stop. Which is not legal and also how the hell can he work that much? And it reflects in his behavior towards the customers.

I understand he does renovation but to do bartending right away? Not healthy and it does not give me any reason to accept a...

This was a nice discovery! I had walked by it many times but finally went in to give it a try. It’s a nice little place with an upstairs and downstairs portion. They most likely open up the lower section when it gets full upstairs. They have a good selection of beers on tap and can make you any kind of liquor drinking they have the ingredients. Good service, the staff was friendly and professional. Prices were ok for the beers, and particularly interesting on event nights.

Tiny terrasse, close to Côte-des-neiges street, so very noisy (3-4 fire trucks, 2-3 ambulances, and big trucks). A lot of people smoking cigarettes right besides also, less than 1m away.
