Traveling from Nova Scotia to Montréal! Very Bad Attitude.
Last night (Sunday, May 11th,2015 Around 9 PM) Me and two other friends (3 People) went to the shop to play the board games (Recommended by Travel Guides!). There was a big crowd inside and a small line outside (Technically very busy!). There are two types of servers inside, one wearing black T-Shirt and the other wearing Red T-Shirt. We already did our dinner and we were not hungry or not intending to drink alcohol just for the moment. There was a 5$ per person cover fee. At the entrance we asked a red T-shirt server the rules and he said the entrance fee is 5$ per person and he will come to the table to explain the games which we choose from the shelf. We took a sit and a server came and asked us if we want something. We politely said we are ok for now and she left. Our lady friend went to the game shelf to check out the games and there is bouncer (Black T-Shirt with tattoos) type server told her that you cannot play any game unless you order food or drinks. Probably due to the heavy demand at the moment the lady server informed the bouncer server that we are not interested for food or drink now. Our lady friend came to us and told us the situation and we stayed for few moments if someone come and explain us the situation or ask us for order again, but they totally avoided us. So we took our jackets and left the place. Just for doing business and for money this should not be the intent of the restaurants. Even though we are going to pay the cover fee of 5 $ and we never said that we will not take anything...
Read moreVery disappointed with their St-Dennis pub.
First: We made a reservation for 6, arrived on time and the second floor was EMPTY but they put us on a table for 4. We complained a few times but it only changed when the waitress gentile noticed that we were VERY UNCOMFORTABLE playing in 6 on a table for 4 and asked the hostess to change us.
Second: We are very used to board game pubs, and we totally agree with the entry fee, because it gives us access to games AND someone to teach us the rules. We felt we had no support because there were not enough staff to help us, they were always busy (probably because the owner thinks 2 people per floor on a crowded saturday night is enough), and they didn't seem excited at all to the point they didn't knew a lot of the rules and tried to simply make us believe that the rule was like that. Not mentioning they seemed sick (sore throat, coughing, running nose...).
Last the food is very expensive, comes in very little potions and is doesn't justify the price (tastes very regular). I'm glad we had a nice waitress that was very gentle all the time.
I'd like to think we went there on an atypical day. But I'm not sure we want to try again, since we don't live...
Read moreHonestly, this was my first time here and i FOR SURE would have rated it a 5/5 if it hadn’t been for one of the servers (Andrea). We came here to have fun but her service was SO bad and RUDE!!! She was in such a rush for everything! Like I understand that there’s a line outside but we made a reservation and we have every right to enjoy our time inside without being rushed. She came and asked us at least 4 times if we knew what we wanted to eat (mind you the first time, I hadn’t even sat down yet). Then, she failed to properly explain us the potion drinks part and even the way she was speaking to us, from start to end was just disrespectful- honestly I was astonished. As someone who has worked in customer service for the past 5 years, this is not the way to treat guests/clients and I honestly think her training should be revisited - she clearly needs it. And even her coworkers know this: we asked to speak to the manager, but ended up talking to another server and she was not surprised to hear about our bad experience with Andrea. Please review server training! Apart from this, the games were fun and the game hosts/facilitators...
