Restaurant Sho-dan (2020 Metcalfe St, Montreal, Quebec H3A 3C8) is a place where gastronomic pleasure is perfectly combined with impeccable service. ✨ From the very first minute you find yourself in an atmosphere of hospitality and attention. 😊 Each employee of the restaurant, from the hostess to the waiters, strives to make your stay here as comfortable as possible. 👍 The service is truly top notch, as in the best restaurants in Montreal. Sho-dan has a special atmosphere that располагает to a pleasant pastime. ✨ The open kitchen allows you to watch the cooking process, which adds a special interest. 👨‍🍳 Cleanliness and order are another plus of this establishment. Japanese cuisine at Sho-dan is a real art! 🍣 All dishes are prepared from the freshest ingredients and have an exquisite taste. 😋 And the bar offers a wide selection of interesting drinks that perfectly complement your dinner. 🍹 Restaurant Sho-dan is a great place for a romantic date, meeting friends or a family dinner. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Highly recommend! #Shodan #Montreal #Quebec #Canada #restaurant #japanesecuisine #sushi #service #atmosphere #delicious #recommend

First, the food, delicious beyond control, they have perfected their menu, and their food presentation is 👌, for the service we had the nicest man I've ever seen he helped me learn how to use chopsticks and now I'm a professional, he was super professional and every time I took a sip of water another kind guy waiter would rush over and give me an instant refill, the atmosphere was perfect the layout of the building, the washrooms, the front desk, the tables and chairs, the candles they give you while you eat, the flowers on the tables, almost everything about it is perfected to the point where I don't understand how this is only a 4.5 star resturant. It was so good that I don't know where they could improve.

I went here on a recommendation of a friend in Montréal.

I was a bit surprised to see the plain menu that was first handed to me. I didn't see anything special...standard sushi and maki's, but since I was sitting at the sushi bar, watching the chefs prepare some of the maki rolls, I immediately noticed that they were preparing items not on the menu.

I inquired about this with my waitress and she handed me a "off-the-menu" menu. It was all in French, and there was no English translation. I actually had the waitress start translating 2 of the 4 pages of specialty maki rolls and settled on 3, Phoenix roll, Mango Tango, and Beano Mucho. All of them used non-standard ingredients (like mangoes and sweet red beans) rolled up in a green rice nori (instead of seaweed nori). I also had some traditional maki and hand rolls.

All were very good, 9/10 stars, and they didn't skimp on any of the fish, and everything was very fresh (the spider crab roll was HUGE). They also had different sauces to dip with (I really enjoyed the mango sauce).

I ended up talking with several of the waiters, waitresses and sushi chefs, and they were all very pleasant. I was impressed that everyone is tri-lingual.

The price was comparable with the quality of food. Expect to spend around $40-50 per person, plus drinks and...

My boyfriend treated me to dinner at Restaurant Sho-Dan for my birthday, and it was a truly memorable experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a kind and attentive gentleman who immediately made me feel welcome. Noticing I spoke English, he effortlessly switched between languages whenever addressing me—a thoughtful gesture that left a lasting impression.

We began with a bottle of unfiltered sake, perfectly recommended to complement the sushi. After handing our menus back, we placed our trust in the chef to create a selection of dishes for us to share. That decision turned out to be the highlight of the evening. The plates were beautifully crafted, and the flavors were nothing short of extraordinary. Their tuna tartar was an absolute standout, showcasing their expertise, and the sashimi was incredibly fresh, practically melting in my mouth.

Every aspect of the experience, from the impeccable service to the artistry on the plate, was exceptional. I can't wait to return to Sho-Dan—not just for another special occasion, but anytime I’m craving exquisite Japanese cuisine in a...
