Went here for breakfast this morning, Easter Sunday 2023. Restaurant was about 1/2 full so not overly busy at all. My fiancee ordered a ham and cheese omelet with home fries and toast 2/10 .. I ordered a 2 soft poached egg combo that came with hash browns, toast and Banana Strawberry French toast.. one agg was soft, one egg was hard .. overall my meal was good, I'd say about a 6.5/10. My fiancee' omelet arrived 1/2 cooked and runny. She has a raw egg allergy and kept saying she felt like it was her fault because she didnt say cook it well. As a now retired chef I told her it absolutely was not her fault and omelets do not show up runny under any circumstances and is a recipe for food poisoning. I told her if it was my kitchen, that cook/chef would be going home for the day without pay to think about how he almost poisoned someone The waitress noticed her spitting her piece omelet into a napkin and came directly to our table to see what was wrong, we told her what was up. She immediately apologized for the kitchens mistake and took it back to the kitchen to be cooked longer. It came back to the table about 1 minute later and I would say still under cooked and a little runny. Although our service was a little slow for a restaurant that wasn't busy, our server was extremely attentive to our table 9/10. My fiancee couldn't eat the rest of her omelet because she kept seeing the undercooked, runny parts in her omelet. We wanted to tip the server about 20-25% because overall she was very good, the restaurant has a built in 15% tip fee on CC/debit card payments which I think takes away money from servers who deserve a bigger tip for good or great service. Overall I wouldn't recommend this restaurant because if you can't make a ham and cheese omelet properly, I'd be very afraid for anything else to come from...

We went there Easter Sunday for breakfast and the service was horrible. The attitude of the staff is very unprofessional. We had to ask for everything instead they suppose to provide us by default. Example with egg breakfast combo with potatoes and toast. You suppose to have SALT PEPPER KETCHUP AND JAM. But no they didn't even bother. I had to ask them. The pancakes for the kids were very hard and the chocolate milk portion was very very small... my kids didn't eat their pancakes. I had to ask for the coffee refill all the time. The waiter wasn't present . I had to look for him in order to ask for anything to be served.. The best thing in the end he comes with the bill woth TIPS included. I ask him why the tip is included, he said I have no choice to pay for it and it's a law. I have to give him 15% tip. My food order was 146$ and his tip was 22$ which equals to 168$. I told him I'll never give you a rip for bad service. He was insisting that I had no choice. So I ask for the manager and the manager is telling me the same thing. Also he start giving me excuses about the service. he quote oh sir this us our fitmrst day for the terasse * i replied since when this is a customer problem ...also I told him your service was bad and you still oblige me to pay him tip . He said sir. You have no choice, when I was discussing with him . One of his waiter had an audacity to interfere in the matter. I don't think the person was acting as a manager was actually a manager. I never had such an unprofessional behavior and 3rd class service. Honestly the food was good and expensive. I end up giving the waiter 15$ tip because I know they have to declare 7% tips of the total sales. I will not recommend anyone to go eat at that place. I really had a bad experience and ill highly recommend to...

This dining experience was nothing short of extraordinary - easily the most authentic French breakfast I have ever savored. Every bite transported me to a quaint café tucked away in a beautiful corner of Paris, right from the comfort of my own city.

The authenticity of the dishes was simply overwhelming. Whether it was the fluffiness of the freshly baked croissants, the tantalizingly sweet tang of the house-made jam, or the perfectly balanced robustness of the café au lait, each item was flawlessly reminiscent of a traditional French breakfast. This establishment certainly doesn't just serve food, it creates an immersive culinary journey that bridges continents.

But the culinary prowess of this establishment was just one facet of the excellence experienced. The service was nothing short of spectacular - embodying the very essence of the term 'awesome.' The staff was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring a smooth and delightful dining experience. Their passion for hospitality was palpable, transforming a simple meal into an extraordinary encounter.

And with such an incredibly fulfilling experience, it is without a doubt that I will return. In fact, I'm already eagerly looking forward to my next visit. This is more than just a recommendation - it's a promise that this charming haven for breakfast lovers is an absolute must-visit. The essence of France, the allure of a perfect breakfast, and an exemplary service, all in one place. I assure you, once you step in, you'll find it impossible...

Had brunch here today. Ordered the healthy omelette. Food is good, standard fare for breakfast and lunch. Service was fast, I was seated right away without a reservation. It was a little busy, I waited a little over 5 min for the waiter to take my order. He never came back around to ask me if I was enjoying my meal or needed anything else. I didn’t see him doing that at the other tables either. I only saw him when I took my last bite and he miraculously appeared to collect my plate. When I said that would be all, he came back with the bill in the closed wallet and put it on my table. I hadn’t even looked at it yet, and a few seconds later a young woman came, opened the wallet and took out the bill and started running the payment. I found that a bit unprofessional. I never said I was ready to pay or leave. I also felt like I was being rushed to leave. But the food was good and presentable (see photo) so I gave 4 stars. One piece of advice. Even though they have a terrace, best to ask to be seated indoors during the winter. They have a huge heater that is too hot when you sit too close. Also, because of its proximity to their entrance, each time the door opens and closes (which is often) you will FREEZE.

This was the first restaurant we tried after arriving into Montreal late one evening. The concierge at Omni Hotel provided us with some options and Universel was the first one and virtually right next door to the hotel. Universel was so good that we went back twice during the week in Montreal. The place has a combination of outdoor seating under a covered area and the indoor dining room. Tables consist of smaller two seaters to comfy booth seating. They have a good selection of many different food selections from sandwiches to seafood and the traditional steak frites. I would recommend the moule with frites which is the mussels served in your choice of 4 different sauces and fries. The serving is a huge heaping bowlful of juicy mussels and a basket of fries. My only wish was that the fries are the thinner variety vs the freshcut which they serve. Desserts are decadent here and ordered the chocolate mousse cake and a side of vanilla ice cream. The pricing is reasonable and even better converted to USD from CAD. Service is top notch here with friendly and careful attention by its servers. We had the privilege of having Francis the first visit which was topped by Anabelle on our last visit. She is the BEST!!

Universel dejeuner et grillades is a breakfast restaurant in Montreal that is open from 8am to 5pm, 7 days a week. It is known for its delicious food, friendly service, and reasonable prices. I have been to Universel dejeuner et grillades many times, and I have always had a great experience. The food is always fresh and delicious, and the service is always friendly and attentive. I especially love the pancakes, which are fluffy and delicious. I also love the eggs, which are always cooked perfectly. The bacon is crispy and flavorful, and the potatoes are always hot and fluffy. The breads are fresh and delicious, and the syrup is sweet and flavorful. The peanut butter is creamy and delicious. One of the things that I love most about Universel dejeuner et grillades is the atmosphere. It is a very relaxed and casual restaurant, and it is the perfect place to go for a leisurely breakfast. I also love the fact that it is open 7 days a week, so I can always get my breakfast fix, no matter what day of the week it is. If you are looking for a great breakfast restaurant in Montreal, I highly recommend Universel dejeuner et grillades. You will not be disappointed.
