DON’T GO THERE IF YOU WANT TO BE WELL TREATED AS A CUSTOMER
Hi all, I usually don’t write reviews but this one needs your attention: I am a young professional who enjoys work from a cafe from time to time (just like a lot of people). I went several times to Pigeon Cafe to eat or have a coffee before, even to work, and I never had a problem - until a couple weeks ago. I took a lunch (nice lunch to be honest) there, while working on my laptop at the same time. I noticed a lot of people come to do so in this cafe, so I was feeling comfortable at first. After a while (maybe 2 hours), a waiter - I think the leading waiter of the restaurant - came to me to tell me to simply leave the restaurant. For him, I was working for too long in his restaurant. However, 1) I came to eat there (a rather expansive lunch) while working, not just to take a $3 coffee and take advantage to work 2) I wasn’t bothering anyone as the restaurant was almost empty. I was shocked because it was the first time it happened to me in all the times I came there to work, and I felt so rejected while being one of their loyal customers. The manager told me he did say to everybody working in the place the same thing, but I felt targeted as the waiters kept on giving me insisting looks until I decided to leave. I did allow myself to make a remark to the leading waiter that it was rude to tell customers to leave while they had spent their money in food and drinks. He LAUGHED at me! It was a crazy unpleasant experience to live. To all Mcgill students or workers wanting to try the restaurant to chill or work, please don’t and go away. On top of that, music was loud...
Read moreAverage 3 stars for the whole experience that we had August 7th 2023. I have tried pegion cafe at other locations and it is good! So when pegion cafe opened a new location near McGill, I introduced to colleagues thus on Monday August 7th, we went there for lunch. Atmosphere ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ is similar like other locations, trees in the middle, nice decor. Food ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had salad and my coworkers had tomato soup and sandwich, the food is good as usual! Really recommend the food Service ⭐ Unfortunately service can only be given 1 star. People are nice. HOWEVER, I think they r newand under staffed. Monday lunch it was packed! We ordered drinks. never came.. We waited 20min ish for our food. Asked twice for the bills, and had to go to the counter to pay. And waited 10min to be able to pay because lack of experience I guess?
I think and recommend to have e more people during lunch time and have eperienced staff to assist. Because target market who goes to that location will mainly be people who work near by. We don't have 20-30min to waste to wait for lunch since need to go back to work. And it is not complicated orders (Salad and sandwich)
Not mention that one bus girl gave the wrong order to our table
I have high believe and hope to pegion cafe! And I sincerely hope this comment can help the business...
Read moreNOT TREE NUT FRIENDLY! came here with my bf who is deathly allergic and there is no mention of any nuts being used but YEP they’re there. got the spinach artichoke dip as a starter and there’s just a light sprinkle of pine nuts on top. not mentioned in the menus or ANYWHERE. thank god i realized they were there before we dug in because it did still look delicious. Asked the busboy who brought it to us if there was any tree nuts in the dip or if it was just on top of we could have it without and 2 times he came back basically saying “idk i’m just a busboy we can’t say if there’s nuts or not ” LIKE OK what kind of establishment doesn’t know if their food is literally poison for someone or not.(probably not made in house? idk) even when there’s clearly tree nuts on top it was a “MaYBe?” bruh.,,, needless to say we left immediately after that and didn’t taste any of the food because that is extremely dangerous. the next place we went to have exact opposite service so big fat L to this place.super sus (label ur food for nut allergies?? literally anywhere just inform ur...
