Tilos Grill gave me one of the best and most enjoyable dining experiences I’ve had in Montreal. From the second we walked in, the owner and his son welcomed us with genuine warmth and treated us like we were at home. It’s a family-owned restaurant, and you really feel that energy and the work they put behind the service. The place serves halal food, and the owner was very open and honest about it, which gave us peace of mind.
We didn’t know what to order, but the owner (Chef Alam) just smiled and said, “Don’t worry, I’ve got you,” and brought out a full table of food that went way beyond what we expected. It was like he just knew what we needed AND HE DID! We had steak, chicken souvlaki, juicy brochettes, merguez, flaky salmon, grilled veggies, fresh Greek and Caesar salads, crispy calamari, buttered rice, and crunchy fries. Everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and made with care and attention. For desserts, we had baklava cheesecake (recommended by the owner's youngest son) and chocolate cake, which sealed the night for us, and we still packed some for home.
What really made it special was the service. The owner kept checking on us throughout the meal to make sure everything was perfect. You could tell he truly cared. His youngest son even came over and made sure we were finishing everything on the table which was adorable and added a fun touch to the whole night.
The second time I came back, I made a reservation for and borught 14 people with me, and the experience was just AMAZING! The food came out quickly and they even prepared it beforehand as requested by us, the portions were more than generous, and every single person left full and happy. Honestly, some of us were struggling to walk out because of how we ate so much.
Tilos is the kind of place where you eat well, laugh and make memorieswith friends and family, and feel like you’re at home. Just make sure to reserve a table before you go, they’re busy for...
Read moreNever eaten in the restaurant, only delivery or pick up and I was not the one going to the restaurant for pick up so I can’t really comment on service or atmosphere, though from what I was told they’ve been friendly.
The food is typically good but they seem to struggle with some things, it seems to be 50/50 on whether or not tzatziki will be included with our meals regardless of what the menu says, and they can’t seem to decide how much oil a dish needs, one week there’s a 1/4 of oil on top of the soup but the next week it’s maybe a tsp, sometimes the chicken souvlaki come with a few tablespoons of oil in the bottom of the container sometimes it doesn’t. The roasted potato is sometimes a good portion, other times it’s a portion fit for a child’s plate.
Unfortunately, my favourite item, Lima beans, also seems to be an issue for them as portion is often smaller than advertised (12oz, thought I’ve typically received 8-10oz) there’s frequently an insane amount of oil on the top (2-4tbsps of it), and they either changed the recipe without indicating it on the menu or the person making them yesterday decided the recipe was optional. They were a deep red colour, soupy, and somehow had very little flavour while also not being very good, they’re typically in a thick bright red tomato sauce and just delicious.
The oil issue was annoying, as was the inconsistency with tzatziki but my love for their beans just kept me ordering because I can’t seem to find them anywhere else near me and apparently I was just being stupid, I can’t say that’s the case anymore. The lack of consistency is disrespectful to customers, and I see no reason to continue to support a business that does not respect its customers. Perhaps I was correct with my earlier statement and it is a better experience dining in, but I have no intention of...
Read moreTilos Grill: A Disappointing Experience
Tilos Grill was, without a doubt, one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment I walked in, I felt a lack of professionalism and hospitality. The atmosphere was bland and uninspired, with poor lighting and cluttered seating. But the real disappointment came with the food and the customer service, both of which were far below any reasonable expectations.
The food was nothing short of terrible. My meal was served cold, under-seasoned, and poorly presented. The meat tasted old and overcooked, and the vegetables were soggy. I’ve had better meals from gas station diners. For a place that presents itself as a quality grill, the standards were shockingly low. Even worse, the portion sizes were small compared to the high prices they charged. I left feeling ripped off, hungry, and annoyed.
What made everything worse was the behavior of the owner, Alamgir. He was incredibly rude and dismissive when I politely brought up my concerns. Instead of listening or offering a solution, he acted defensive and uninterested, as if customer feedback didn’t matter at all. His arrogant attitude made the entire situation feel even more insulting. It’s one thing to have a bad meal, but to be treated poorly by the owner of the establishment shows a serious lack of professionalism and basic decency.
I would not recommend Tilos Grill to anyone. The food is subpar, the service is disrespectful, and the owner clearly doesn’t value customers. There are plenty of other restaurants that care about the quality of their food and the satisfaction of their guests. Tilos Grill fails in both departments. Save your money and your time—go...
