I recently visited Skybird Fresh Asian Grill, and I was really impressed! As someone currently trying to eat a bit healthier for the summer, I know it can be hard to find meals that are both good for you and taste great. But the chicken bowl ($14.90) I had made it easy. It came with brown rice, black beans, crispy onions, jalapeños, tomatoes, green onions, kimchi, and a sweet and spicy General Tao sauce. Every bite was fresh and full of flavor. The grilled chicken was super tender, and the crispy onions added the perfect crunch. The sauce brought everything together, making it healthy and delicious. I also had an iced matcha latte ($5.99), which was smooth, creamy, and refreshing. If you’re new to matcha, this is a great way to try it — it’s not too strong, but still has that nice, fresh flavor. Plus, I had leftovers to take home — great value!
My cousin got the pork banh mi sandwich, and he loved it. The pulled pork was tender and full of flavor, with a Japanese BBQ sauce that was just right. The sandwich also had fresh herbs and crisp/fresh veggies inside a soft baguette. He had it with a Vietnamese iced coffee with caramel ($5.99), which was rich, creamy, and sweet — perfect for a little pick-me-up.
For dessert, we shared two homemade oatmeal cookies: one matcha and one ginger. Both were soft, chewy, and delicious, making a perfect end to our meal.
Skybird Fresh Asian Grill makes healthy eating easy and tasty. If you want fresh, flavorful meals that won’t leave you feeling guilty, I highly recommend it. I’ll be posting a video review on TikTok (@Foxy.appetite) and Instagram...
Read moreI came there because I saw a girl I follow on Instagram post about on Instagram, but after seeing the reviews I wanted to say my honest opinion.
Apparently, the Instagrammed girl and her boyfriend went there and got a bowl and a sandwich. After looking at the not-so-cheap prices, I opted for a bowl because it would keep me full for longer.
I was honnestly disappointed with my experience... The bowl was not worth the money in my opinion.. I mean when I eat a bowl or go to a restaurant I look for freshness of ingredients, but the corn and several other ingredients felts like they came from a can or were frozen before hand. So right there a big no-no. They also don't have options like shrimp or sea food that are often found in Vietnamese cuisine and are often found in bowls. It's basically either meat or tofu as options.
I saw that several people in the reviews opted for a delivery, which makes sense because the space is super small and is split with a pizzeria. You heard me right: the location has one counter for sky bird and and another for a pizzeria, no wall or anything in between and one employee to cover both restaurants.
Another thing is, the place is supposed to be a Vietnamese restaurant but the meat is halal, why? At first I thought that I was uneducated, but no upon googling I learned that Vietnam has only 0.1% Muslims which begs the question why the halal meat? I find that it removes from the "authentic experience"
Pretty sure they just paid a bunch of influencers to make videos and leave...
Read moreThis restaurant space opened a few years ago -- a good Italian sandwich/pizza place (Pizza Al Taglio) with a bakery cafe section in front. I guess maybe it was two seperate businesses in one enclosed space with a common seating area. Then they shut down, a sign said 'closed for renovations' and they shut down for over a year! So I thought it was over. Well they reopened, out of the blue. The pizza place is still there, but the front of the place (where the cafe/bakery was) is now Rio Skybird Asian Grill. A franchise with only one other location: Pierrefonds. Against my better instincts, I ordered a bahn mi sandwich with lemongrass beef. Now if this were the Pierrefonds locations i might be more generous with my reviews. But seeing as were this place is located within steps of multiple legit good Vietnamese bahn mi places, I cannot recommend this sandwich. It didn't taste like anything except artificial lemongrass. The bread was crusty, but the way they heated up in a oven before making the sandwich just made the :whole experience feel Subwayesque. Other points against them: their menu is on flatscreen TVs; no one associated the...
