Sushi Ami — Restaurant in Montreal

Honestly, I willl not come after an incident yesterday. My husband and I entered this place and asked about the menu, the hostess showed it to us and she asked what we wanted to order. Next, I saw a boot available, (they only have three) and asked the hostess if I could go there to sit to which she replied we had to wait by the entrance. I thought they were going to call us to go inside and eat, but they just returned with our food already packed to go. I asked the hostess that if my husband had asked for the food to go, she said yes, to which my husband, who has some steps away, claimed he didn't. I told the hostess I wanted to be seated because that was reason we went there, to sit and enjoy a meal. She said that food that is ordered at the entrance was to go and going inside meant they had to serve us and would take longer. I reminded her that I had asked to sit down at the boot after we ordered to what she just replied with a "sorry, you can eat outside...

Considering the amount of positive reviews I will assume the sushi quality is really variable and depending on the employee working but what we received tonight was NOT good sushi. The rice was terrible, really smushy and really over worked. Squeezed so hard we could see finger marks in most nigiri pieces. The tempura was soggy and oily, really badly done. Pieces were cut in an irregular manner and unfortunately revealing rice less spots on the nori. I am sorry for such a bad review but I rarely had sushi...

I first came across this sushi haven a decade ago and it's been getting better ever since. The food here is truly extraordinary, especially the eel, which is cooked to perfection, and the sea urchin sushi that's simply out of this world.
