The first time I came here I was impressed - had the pad see ew and the panang short ribs. Both were great and I'd thought I'd found my new Thai restaurant, despite it being VERY expensive. Recently I ordered the pad see ew on uber eats and it was nothing like the one I'd had at the restaurant - swimming in oil, missing the dark soy sauce stain and wok hay flavour with only a few slices of beef AND it came to $34 before tip - $40 with 15% - which is INSANE for some oily rice noodles. Uber eats refused to refund me so I called the restaurant. To their credit, they admitted they had a busy night and that quality was compromised and refunded me $30 and offered a pad see ew on the house. I recently went to pick it up and ordered the panang short ribs that had left such an impression. When I got home, not only had they forgotten to pack the rice (which they did deliver once I called to complain) but sadly, the short ribs were nothing like the first time. They were cut in small cubes instead of the nice whole pieces I had the first time, and clearly hard boiled in water as opposed to slow braised. This is obvious is the way the meat tasted - like bland boiled beef and the texture which was tough and the fat which was tough and curled. Gone were the signature bones of the short ribs, due to the rushed nature and hard boil which forced them out. It was also swimming in 1/4 cup of oil/fat that I had to skim off. So despite hoping they would redeem themselves with this order, they just solidified that they are terribly inconsistent with the quality and I will not be giving them another chance after this. If someone forgot to put the short ribs on to be ready for service, better remove the most expensive item on your menu ($40 with tax incl) then put out a rushed and completely underwhelming and unrefined version.

This was our first restaurant back since the closures and this place did not disappoint! The food was beyond amazing and everything was cooked to perfection. Literally every bite was full of flavour. We got three sharing plates (crispy chicken, pork belly and zapzap wings) and they are all definitely a must try. The main dishes (chicken pad thai and beef pad see-ew) were really great too but nothing too extraordinary, imo. The drinks were good as well and I don’t feel like they cheaped out on the alcohol at all (as mentioned in another review). Our server Rose was super sweet and always checked in with us throughout the evening even though she was going inside and out, she never forgot about us. Wait times for the food were not major and everything was brought to us quickly even though there was a bunch of people outside. I would definitely return here but would probably sit outside on the terrasse as the vibe seemed to be more outside. I think we were the only ones who chose inside seating so it was a little dead inside but I’m sure it’ll pick up. The inside is very cute and seating is nice and Covid-safe as well. Overall, great experience and amazing food. Will definitely return! (Pics are blurry cause they’re video screenshots)

TLDR: The highlights for me have been the lost in Thailand virgin drink, papaya salad, sweet chilli tofu app, tofu pad sew and pad Thai with extra chilli flakes (but don’t add on too much, it makes it a lot spicier!) They can make the coconut milk curry with tofu instead so I might try that next time The papaya salad and pad sew are amazing. Nice ambiance. I wouldn’t get the pad pak again but it was nice to at least try it (I took it to go and they filled my container to reduce waste :) ) I wasn’t that hungry last time so im going to come back to try the other vegetarian options like the coconut soup, sweet chili tofu appetizer, tofu pad thai, desserts and virgin cocktails. :) Edit : I returned for my birthday. The tofu app was really good. My friend loved their tofu pad sew. I tried the tofu pad Thai and needed to add extra Thai chilli flakes on it because it was too mild for my liking and then it was very good. The virgin Lost in Thailand drink was delish. I wasn’t impressed with the service this time but it wasn’t bad either. I think they took the coconut soup off the menu?

Loved this little place! THE BEST PAD SEW I’ve ever had. The appetizers were also amazing, we were 9 girls and everyone agreed it was delicious. The drinks were great and the service was top notch!

Most things on the menu are spicy which I don’t do but there are some non spicy options. Just a heads up that the peanut sauce on the “non spicy” chicken skewers is a bit spicy - I let my waiter know since I had requested non spicy and he apologized and brought me a free imperial roll entree ! They really own customer satisfaction! My amaretto sour made with a Quebec amaretto was amazing.

Parking is apparently usually a bit hard to find but we went on a Saturday night and most of us found parking in front or close by.

The doors to get into the restaurant are a level Down on the side of the building. It’s a small place but very cozy and homey. I like that you can hear eachother talk and the music isn’t too loud. The decor and ambient lighting is very comfortable and makes you feel like you aren’t really in Montreal. Loved it!

The seating we sat in - a half booth and high tables was ok but after a while Your legs start to hurt since there isn’t really anywhere to rest your feet. People in the booth had their feet dangle with nowhere to rest them. Would be cool if the tables had foot rests.

Overall loved this place. I...

Thammada is by far my favorite Thaï restaurant in Montreal. Food here is tasty, authentic and made with high quality ingredients. But because of the pandemic, I was only able to order food via UberEats. When I was finally able to dine here for the first time, I got disappointed by the service. As being a person with a lot of experiences in restaurants, I can be patient and understanding because I know how challenging it can be ; especially because of covid. But the service was beyond what I could imagined. I had to ask for the menu after waiting for 20 minutes, our order was taken 1h after we sat, drinks were brought to us at the end of the starters, main courses were brought to us even if we haven’t finished yet our starters and we had to eat our dessert while being surrounding by our empty plates of food we ordered ! And, for the best part, the waiter threw away the receipt in the air when I believe he noticed I gave a 10% tips. No thank you, no good bye, no manners. He just left. I am more than happy to pay for food at Thammada but definitely not for that type of service and behaviour. And I am sad for witnessing that because food is so great here and it doesn’t reflect what this restaurant has to offer and it is unfair to the owner. I hope the service will get better. I sincerely wish you that. Food : 5...
