Pizzéria NO.900 - Bernard — Restaurant in Montreal

We were seated and waited quite a while just to get water—no one brought us menus. Looking around, it became obvious: only one server was managing nearly half the patio, and several tables were waiting without service. After 20 minutes, we had to go find our waitress ourselves. We let her know we were regulars and didn’t need menus, and we placed our order right away—waiting any longer, especially with a young child, simply wasn’t an option.

Then… nothing. Over an hour passed—1 hour and 15 minutes—for pizza. No one checked in, no one communicated delays, and staff avoided eye contact. It wasn’t until we finally flagged someone down to ask how much longer that we received an apology—but no explanation, no gesture, not even a simple acknowledgment of the wait until that moment.

It was clear what was going on: only two servers for the entire patio, one hostess not helping with service, and a nonstop stream of Uber and takeout orders being prioritized over diners on-site. This was a serious failure in management judgment. They should have paused delivery orders or reduced patio capacity. Some guests actually left without even receiving water.

Unfortunately, we won’t be returning to...

Although the pizzas we got ranged from decent to good, they were not worth the wait (50 minutes). When I commented on that fact to the person "in charge" that night, he then added insult to injury by saying he had "investigated with his staff" and claimed they were only 5 minutes off schedule (whereas they had announced 30 minutes). Basically calling me a liar when I told him for how long we had really been there, I offered my timestamped ticket as a proof, to which he actually said "yes I would like to check"! (The ticket officially confirmed that we had been there for close to an hour, waiting outside for our pizzas to go, but he did not offer any other form of apology...) Oh and I forgot to mention that during the wait, after initial complaints about the delay, he graciously offered to make up for it with a glass... of water (no joke)! It's a shame, we used to love to come here because the street, which is pedestrian during the summer, has a nice vibe to it. I live four blocks from this restaurant. I’ve been reasonably satisfied in previous years to partake in their sidewalk terrace or to get takeout for a family picnic…despite the undeserved prices.

But for pandemic takeout, this place is a disaster.

Quality control — The guy making pizzas pathetically wore a mask that didn’t cover his nose and hung off his upper lip while chatting with coworkers and prepping pizzas at the same time.

Contrôle de qualité - Le gars qui faisait les pizzas portait pathétiquement un masque qui ne couvrait pas son nez et pendait à sa lèvre supérieure tout en discutant avec des collègues et en préparant des pizzas en même temps.

Customer service — The staff was more interested in their own conversation than talking to me about my order. (How long will it take for my three pizzas? Should I wait here inside? Should I come back in a few minutes? Hello! Me, your customer is standing right in front of you asking what’s up!)

Service client - Le personnel était plus intéressé par sa propre conversation que de me parler de ma commande. (Combien de temps cela prendra-t-il pour mes trois pizzas? Dois-je attendre ici à l'intérieur? Dois-je revenir dans quelques minutes? Bonjour! votre client est debout juste devant vous et demande ce qui se passe!)

Food — The pizza was weak. I ordered three, and all three had overly burnt outer crusts and soggy undercooked centres. Not even close to meriting the $50+ price.

Nourriture - La pizza était plus que médiocre . J'en ai commandé trois, et toutes les trois avaient des croûtes trop brûlées et des milieux mous et pas assez cuits. Loin de mériter le prix de 50 $ +.

If you’re looking for professional quality food and service, there are other options within 50 meters of Pizzaria 900. If you’re looking for amateur quality food prepared by staff with adolescent notions of customer service who look like they haven’t washed their hair in two weeks and just rolled out of their dorm room bed two minutes before coming to work, then Pizzaria 900 could work.
