My husband and I have lived in Moose Jaw for 18 years, ate and ordered from numerous establishments and I have never been compelled to leave a bad review, however, our experience here at Golden Lux was so awful I felt it was my duty to share our experience in hopes that we can save others their hard-earned money and time.
On February 13th, 2024, my husband decided to take me out for an early Valentine’s Day dinner. Having two young children we don’t often have an opportunity to go out to eat, so I was delighted. He pulled up outside of this establishment and my first reaction was that I was excited to try something new. We were the only ones in the restaurant, the ambience was nice, and we were greeted right away.
We decided to go with the calamari for our appetizer, it came out burnt, however, anyone who knows me can vouch for me when I say I am the least picky eater known to mankind, therefore, I ate most of the order thinking ‘it can only get better from here’. Mid-way through our appetizer the music shut right off so we sat in dead silence for the remainder of the evening.
Our main dishes came out shortly afterward, I had ordered a beef noodle dish which was the special that night and my husband ordered an 8oz steak. The noodle dish was saturated, and by saturated, I mean it looked like soup – there were soggy peas and noodles floating around in it, I thought to myself ‘maybe this dish tastes better than it looks’, and boy was I wrong, the sauce was sweet and overbearing, I couldn’t even fathom putting another bite into my mouth. Not once in my entire life have I ever sent a dish back to the kitchen, not once in 40 years - this was a first for me. The server did offer to bring me something else instead, but after seeing my husband’s ‘steak’ which looked like a piece of meat that had been pounded by a mallet into a 2cm thick piece of grizzle my appetite was gone. He felt so bad that I had sent my food back that he choked back what he could of his.
We requested our bill so we could go home and eat something, and my repulsive dish was charged in full. Rather than causing a scene we paid the bill, including a tip and left knowing we would never return. Later in the evening my husband started experiencing severe abdominal cramping and was up sick the entire night. This was by far the worst dining experience we have ever had. I did see some better reviews and tried to imagine what they might have ordered, maybe just drinks? I’m not too sure but if you’re hungry I would definitely explore...
Read moreJust had the worst restaurant experience. Entered the establishment and stood there for a few minutes. No staff greeted us and the place was empty. Drink order was given, second staff came out and got our drink order again as “that staff is new and we must verify.” Our drinks were wrong and one had an unknown foreign thing in it. Yuck. We waited over 1 hour for our food, while we were the only people in the restaurant. We were told “15 minutes” after we’d been there for 40+ minutes. Then after 20+ minutes “5-6 minutes.” Two meals were brought out while two were missing.
We were told that “the kitchen is busy” which could have been true as it is connected to a wing place. We did complain as waiting that long in an empty restaurant while previous service has been quick. We had to ask for our bill several times. We paid and had received a “$15 discount” as we were leaving the second employee said an error was made and drinks were still needing paid for. We expressed our frustration and how upset we were with the lack of service. Again we were told “the other side is very busy.”
When we left we entered “the other side” there were no cars outside when we arrived and there was no one in the other side. We spoke with the employees asking for a refund. We were told they had several door dash orders and were shown the iPad. All 5 orders were received while we were there and sent out before our food. We also were told “it takes 20 minutes to cook the patties” while we had our order placed for well over an hour.
Needless to say the establishment has went extremely downhill. The service is extremely poor. We will not...
Read moreThis place is not luxurious or upscale, it is a nice looking restaurant but the seats are somewhat high so sitting is less than comfortable. I ordered ribs and was given a single paper napkin, no finger bowls. It didn't take long to have little bits of sticky paper everywhere as the napkin quickly disintegrated. The ribs had that unappetizing gray pallor to them, I suspect they are boiled then grilled for color? They were advertised as all you can eat, they are noticeably smaller than Montana's ribs. The first round was Greek, nothing special, no pop of flavor, basically boring. The second round was honey garlic, very good, I would order those again. The third round was sweet Chile thai, even better than the honey garlic, loved this sauce. I don't know what the bbq was like as I was not allowed to have a fourth round. Yes that's right, an all you can eat special with a restaurant imposed limit, that is nothing less than false advertising. I noticed their pints of beer are only 16 ounces, a pint is 20 ounces, anything less and it is not a pint, more false advertising. As the integrity of the entire menu is now in question due to misleading and false descriptions I will not be back as I never take kindly to being lied to and ripped off. So much...
