Tomo Sushi Togo — Restaurant in Nanaimo

Tomo Sushi To Go is easily my favourite sushi, sashimi and tempura place in Nanaimo, BC. Their products are consistently good, fast, fresh and delicious, their portions are generous for the price and the service is professional yet friendly. Their Chicken Karaage with spicy chilli sauce is an absolute delight, as is their Yam Tempura. The salmon and tuna sashimi is scrumptious with an almost buttery texture that leaves you wanting more. Their salmon and tuna rolls are deliciously stuffed with fresh fish. I particularly enjoy their Spicy Roll Combo, which is a 24 piece spicy salmon, tuna and scallop roll, and is quite a hefty serving of excellent sushi. Their sushi rice itself is the perfect balance of sweet and sour. They clearly balance the rice wine vinegar with just the right amount of cane sugar. I tried this place, and was let down, after reading some good reviews... I love sushi and eat it often, and have tried many different places, so it's not like I'm new. Maybe I just came at the wrong time of day or something, but I didn't think the sushi was very fresh. It was ready right after I ordered, which lead me to believe they have the rolls pre-made (especially after tasting it). I had the Yam Roll, and it was ok, but the tempura wasn't fresh and crispy. And after the amazing, super fresh Yam Rolls at EBIZO Sushi in Victoria (which I highly recommend), I was unimpressed by Tomo Sushi's Yam Rolls. I also had the Avocado Roll, in which the nori did not seem fresh at all! It was chewy and gross and I threw most of it out. THIS PLACE IS REALLY GOOD. If you're looking for quick sushi on the go and you're wanting it to taste good, this is the place to go! 😌🙏🏻

There's always tons of parking as it's in a parking lot, they're a family owned or run business I believe, and their sushi is quick and delicious 😋🤤

We usually order the veggie rolls, avocado rolls, oshinko (pickled radish) and cucumber rolls! I always buy an extra container of pickled ginger - it's quite large and satisfies my craving for pickled ginger + the customer service is sooo good. They're all so kind, generous and lovely.

We've dined and and down take out before - both are great!
